On a personal level I very much like Mac.
He's a pretty cool fella. Met him back in '06 at a remote. Must have made one helluva impression because in '09 or was it '10 at Dougs Double Door show he met me and I was talking to him for 10 minutes until Doug tells him, "Mac, this is Darkside" and Mac was all "OH this is DARKSIDE huh" and pretended to want to kill me but he was cool and we talked for quite some time thereafter. I was standing right next to him whilst he marvelled at Dougs massive muscular physique.
He was a little standoffish at the mackaversary but who knows what he had going on...
But in person he is a complete gentleman, nice guy, fun, engaging and what not.

My only critique is basically the show. It's a product, and my like/dislike of the product has little to nothing to do with how I feel about the guy in real life.
Originally, my critique was about the days off right after the show started. He apparently didn't like that much. I didn't mean it in a bad way, I just thought it was hard to get on board and get started when there was days off right off the bat. Later, I became a bit more critical of Matt. In fact, my original critique of him is something Mac bitches about in his absence mind you, the "I'm not listening mmm hmmm's" and the "screen door" fake laugh.

The irony of it all is that although Matt still does that stuff, he's becoming much easier to listen to.

My most significant complaint about the show is that mac doesn't seem to be watching the games. I might be wrong, I don't really know, but he isn't talking about the games the way I would expect someone who watched them to. I am not connecting with a great deal of the content of the show. The meat/grilling, music, boats and tv's thing... I get it's dude talk and that's cool and all for whatever he wants to do but, unfortunately, it's not something that I'm personally connecting with and it's just not as enjoyable as it used to be when say the Cubs were awesome in 03 and he was on with Homer Harry and Levineline and I was waiting with baited breath to hear the next Cubs chatter and what not. Those were the things that I tuned in to hear. That particular content is diminishing rapidly. part of it is no fault of Macs at all, it's just that the games/teams blow and it's hard to talk about in a way that is so captivating. The subject matter has lost some lustor.
