From people.

Theo agreed to not take anyone to Chicago with him.

Cubs and BoSox agree to let Theo go for some prospects similar to Players to be named later.

Theo agrees to deal with Cubs.

Theo sees BoSox now trying to squeeze cubs for more prospects. In Theo's view, more than what was agreed upon. Seeing they are going to be his prospects, Theo feels BoSox, no longer honoring the spirit of the deal.

Theo goes back to his deal and starts naming guys he wants to take to Chicago. He has no real intentions of doing so, but now he has something to negotiate with. Says he will drop those demands if a deal is done.

I like the cut of the jib! This is called DEALMAKING 101, a class Jim Hendry never took!

Talent evaluation misses are one thing Hendry blew. I can deal with that to a point, but cutting bad deals is just a result of a bad dealmaker.

......and John Henry has done as expected and has begun taking shots at Theo blaming him solely for the signing of Carl Crawford which he was apparently completely opposed to.

I like it.

There had to be something going on behind the scenes. Too much weirdness surrounding this.

This Red Sox organization sounds like it's quite a circus. Scorched earth policy right out of the Mr. Braxton handbook.

Of course! Who wanted to sign one of the premier FA from last year? What an idiot Theo is.

Not to mention if you are an owner and you expressly don't want a guy and your GM brings him in anyway then you got to keep your pimp hand way stronger. Enjoy not getting any prospects from the Cubs beyyyyyyyyyotch

How could Theo have already agreed to a contract with the Cubs when he's already under contract with the Red Sox?? Wouldn't that be considered tampering??

The Cubs already asked MLB for permission to speak to the Red Sox/Theo.

Genius, the Red Sox agreed to let the Cubs talk to him. Did you miss the whole "The Cubs have ASKED The Boston Red Sox for permission to talk to Theo Epstein"

Do you see the difference yet? Or are you still mired in your guy and a drunk Don Cooper?

Can't give a guy credit for something until it works. I think a blind man could see he's better than Hendry. I was a fan of Hendry's for a while too.

Oh because they never talked before they were granted permission (like in August when Hendry was fired). It's funny watching you make up these rules as you go along.

Well, if he can close this deal, there'll be a spot waiting for him at PoleKatz.
