My favorite time of the year for movie watching. I can't get enough of the Shining. Candyman still freaks me out. What are yours, CSFMB?

Pretty much any Harmony Korine film scares the everloving shit out of me.
Gummo and Trash Humpers would be the 1st two that come to mind.
Gaspar Noe's Irreversible was also quite upsetting.
These aren't horror movies in the traditional sense, but they sure are scary.

Can't believe I forgot It.

Tim Curry's greatest role, next to the butler in Clue.

His 3rd best role was when he played Roger on Roseanne.

I don't know if it's classified as a horror movie but The Serpent and The Rainbow is kind of creepy.

Yes, watched this yesterday. As a Horror Film buff, not sure what took me so long to watch it. Enjoyed it very much....surprised that (SPOILER ALERT....even though movie is 30 years old) a brother survived in the end.....when I seen that there were two brothers, I just knew that they would be the first two to die...

The Original Halloween is one of my top 5 movies of all time..

I'm a big fan of the cheesy 80's slasher horror films, so I'll take any Halloween or Friday the 13th film.

As a kid, the movies would scare me, but then I would want to watch them again.

i love the ending. first of all, childs was a great role. keith david was awesome.

second, i love that there's a stalemate. you don't know who won, and it's not important. it's not about that...in some ways it can be interpreted as a symbol of the cold war, as far as trust...who are our real enemies? the ending with two people who really *don't* trust each other but willing to drink with each other because there's nothing left to do is excellent. it was unfairly panned back when it was released, and i still can't believe the soundtrack was nominated for a golden raspberry award. i thought the tone of the film and the tone of the music fit perfectly.

There is still a move I watched on cable back when I was a kid in the late hours of the night. I will never remember what it was but there were a few scenes that stood out. 1 or 2 guys were outside in the yard of a farm near a small creek and blood and cows or cow parts were flowing down the river. I think it was set in the 1700's They followed it to a building and inside there was some crazy ass old guy who was using the cows and blood and probably people to develop something to make him live forever. It was so long ago that I am probably off base with that description but I hope to one day see it again cause it was really weird and cool.

Halloween original---The town reminded so much of where I grew up and trick or treating as a kid plus it was set in IL

Texas Chainsaw Massacre original---Just so bizarre and fucked up. The scene where the girl is tied down during dinner and the family just laughs at her screaming is so fucked up. And yet I could see this happening somewhere in a remote part of America.

In the Mouth of Madness---Freaked me out as a kid as it made me question nature of reality. Now just good fun to watch.

Freaks is a great movie. Not necessarily a horror film, but a very weird cult classic about circus freaks.

Dracula w/ Bela Legosi is a classic.

Dracula w/ Frank Langella was pretty good.

Häxan is a great silent film about Witches.

Nosferatu is a great silent film about Dracula.

The Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th movies from the '80s.

The first two Poltergeist movies.

And of course, there's Creepshow, with the scene w/ the roaches. :pale:

Never forget how scared I was after seeing the original "Night of the Living Dead" as a kid. Think I was 10 or so. Still love that movie.

Yeah, that's popular at my house for Christmas, too.

"Svengoolie" aired the original 1931 "Dracula" over the weekend on WWME 23 and the MeTV Network coast to coast. It will be replayed Saturday at 11a on WCIU 26 The U.

As far as recent scary movies are concerned, Wes Craven's not just the man behind the "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies of the '80s. He's also the man behind the "Scream" movies of the '90s.

While "Nightmare on Elm Street" & the "Scream" flicks of the '90s were scary, two movies scared the snot out of me growing up. One was Jack Nicholson's bone-chilling 1980 classic "The Shining" and the other was Naomi Watts in "The Ring" from a few years ago.
