No bullshit Mac said earlier give up Garza if you have to get it done. Gotta love when a sports guy just wants to get something over with like the GM position of the Cubs because it interrupts him talking about the Rolling Stones and Alge Crumplers ass size.

I'm glad for most Cub fans I know, but a tiny part of me wants Theo to be awful just to hear Bernsie's reaction.

He can blame it on Crane Kenney rotting his apple.

The point both Dan's have been trying to make is Epstein is bigger than any single player in the Cubs system. I've been annoyed by the continued beating Bernstein has given this story. However, he's not totally to blame. The people involved have beaten this process to death.

I asked Bernstein the day Hendry was fired if he would trade Brett Jackson for Friedman. Neither of us had any idea Friedman wasn't under contract. Or that Theo would be available. We both said yes. It should be a given for this organization.

You don't give up Starlin Castro to get Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer, and friends. But, the point is that it would be worth it in the grand scheme.

Rather have Theo being GM and President. Hoyer really doesn't do much for me, the Padres sucked.

So it now sounds like while the deal is done they are still not on the same page as far as compensation and Selig will arbitrate if they don't figure it out on their own soon. I have no idea who has what kind of leverage at this point but I would say the Cubs can protect any 40 man roster player and 10 additional prospects. The Sawx can take their choice of 1 player outside of those parameters.

Perfect. Now business can be done. Nobody caved. They're all alpha males. How's your Trey McNutt?

I have a question, and you don't have to be a Cub fan. Why would this happen at 9:00 PM Est on a Friday? I know it's not the press conference. Did Bud get involved? Did they decide Theo will "resign" on Thursday, or earlier, and bury it on a Friday night?

At this point, I don't care. But I love learning about the process at all times.

Well they are both single strapping 37 year old males.

At least it's finally done. That's the bottom line.

So when does Quade get axed? Halloween sounds appropriate to me but sooner would be better.

Quade comes back as lame duck manager whilst Frank Ona takes a year off.

Are you sure?! I've heard nothing about this. Where is your source?

Uhhh.....do you read? Or listen to the radio? Pick an article about it and read it. Then come back and report to the class.

DUMBASS

It was very obvious I was being facetious, being that I'm on this board a good portion of the day M-F, and I'm one of the biggest Cubs fans here as well. I've posted in this Theo thread multiple times already. You think I would suddenly have no idea what this thread is about?

Stick to being ridiculous in the Politics section.

Thanx for your support. Although it's quite depressing that you can spend a good portion of your week on here. Maybe when you move out of your mom's basement you'll get a real life.

Come on McNown, it was obvious to everyone but you that IMU was being sarcastic. Just own it and move on, it happens to the best of us at times.

Yeah Baby. You missed the boat on this one.

Chalk it up as a loss and move on.

I'm sure Scorehead will say something silly soon.

The anger levels around here are peaking. Luckily Festivus is mere months away. I have alot of problems with you people.

I've been in a spectacular mood all day. Sadly, the Cubs are important to me. I feel like I'm a fan of a real organization.

Wow did I get the shaft. Epstein gets to hire 2-3 new guys while I got stuck with next to no staff except Crane Kenney. :( :(

. . . Not to mention the broadband upgrade for Theo.

Here's a fair, if not critical, review of Theo's GM record.

It really isn't a "fair" review. If it were a fair review it would give the facts about how the minor league system was built and the talent that came to the big leagues during his time there.

That was a good article. Hendry's best trades also involved taking advantage of lower payroll teams (Ramirez, Lee) so Theo should be able to continue doing that. He will have to do a much better job signing free agents.
