No sooner does weekend meteorologist Ginger Zee pack her bags to become new meteorologist on ABC News' "Good Morning America" starting November 7th, another prominent NBC5 news personality is also headed for New York.

Early yesterday morning, NBC5 Station Manager & Vice President of News Frank Whittaker informed staffers that Zoraida Sambolin, who has co-anchored the NBC Universal-owned outlet's weekday morning newscast with Rob Elgas, meteorologist Andy Avalos & traffic reporter Matt Rodewald since 2007, is leaving Chicago as well.

Sambolin, who has been with NBC5 since 2002, is expected to leave the station in mid-November and become a national news anchor at CNN. Weekend morning news co-anchor Kim Vatis is expected to fill in during the week until station bosses here find a suitable replacement.

Right now, it's unclear what specific assignment Zoraida would be doing for the TimeWarner-owned all-news network. Might she be in line to become a permanent replacement on CNN's struggling "American Morning"? Stay tuned on that one. Zambolin is the second prominent NBC5 news personality to leave for a national gig in as many weeks.

how many women get promoted to national gigs that are not hot?

There is always an exception on every network of someone they keep for 'journalistic reasons" like any of them write their own copy or do any research?

I would just assume that if a female is being promoted to a national gig she is a hottie. Simple.

She is 30-35, great looking and will be there for 5-10 years, before they can her.
