Can't say on the conversation, but have heard several times that people are "half jewish" because one of their parents is jewish. That would indicate that Jewish people consider themselves a race vs just a religion.

I'm pretty sure no one is really "half Jewish". It's just something people say if one parent is and one isn't. If your mother is Jewish, you're Jewish.
