I dont feel like looking up random movies, especially from over a year ago, to see if they've been talked about here. So this works.

I've never seen Milk or Red State, rented both tonight. Any thoughts on either of them?

Milk was a good film. First Van Zant movie I've liked in about a decade.

I haven't gotten around to Red State yet...sitting in my Netflix instant queue...maybe this weekend.

I enjoyed Milk, it was a pretty good bio pic and I knew nothing of him before watching it.

I finally got around to seeing Scott Pilgrim vs. the world. I rather enjoyed it.

I'm gonna get to it today. Didn't see either last night, but I have pretty high hopes for Milk and cautiously optimistic for Red State.

One of my buddies saw it and really liked it. My understanding is that it's completely different from anything Kevin Smith has ever done before.

I love Gremlins... the sequel was simply awful.

I saw "Red" over the weekend. Kind of entertaining, but won't watch again.

Also saw "Transformers: something about the fallen something." Absolute garbage. I especially liked the robot heaven towards the end.

Just saw Milk. It was pretty good, I don't know if I'd say great though.

Gonna look at Red State in a couple hours.

I have yet to watch one Transformer movie. Would I be better off just never doing so?

I haven't either but I'm still going to confidently say yes to that question.

Red State was ok. John Goodman was exceptional. You could easily tell this was a Kevin Smith movie though. There's the total overuse of dialogue, the pacing, and his brand of humor stamped all over it. The themes explored in this movie gave it alot more depth than his usual movies, but it's just not a great film. It just feels like Smith needed a consultant or whatever it's called to help him with a thriller/horror/drama/whatever this movie was.

i can't even recall this movie at all, so i looked it up on wikipedia to see if it would jog my memory but i still don't really remember it. apparently there was some controversy involving the sundance film festival that had nothing to do with the content of the film, just about some auction kevin smith was "holding" for distribution.

kevin smith has made some incredibly good films ("clerks", "chasing amy") but i rolled my eyes incessantly at "dogma" and this movie looks like it's in the same vein, only he goes for horror elements instead of just satirizing conventional religion.

smith is at his worst when he injects his personality into his films. even "chasing amy" had some annoying fanboy moments in it. the guy just can't grow up and make a fucking film. and now it's just become "a part of his" repertoire and it's fucking insufferable. it's basically if comic book guy became a filmmaker.

"zack and miri" was good, though.

The cartoons of your youth were better than the movies. I saw the first two movies and while the
special effects were kinda cool and Optimus Prime's voice brings back the memories, they are very
weak. I loved the cartoons from the 80s. Same with GI Joe. Saw part of that movie on HBO last
week and I watched just for the laughs at how unbelievable they made it.

I think Red State deserves to be taken a little more seriously than Dogma, but overall that's a good description.

It wouldn't matter which one he watched, they're all the same movie. Is there a way to tell the difference?

In both, it was really hard for me to figure out which robots were which, good or bad (save OP & bumblebee). The fight scenes were impossible to follow. The plots have Optimus Prime-sized holes in them. However, Megan Fox is smoking hot in each of the first two.

I wouldn't go out of your way to see them, but they're decent rainy day filler.

Didn't go see the Rum Diary, instead got four movies from blockbuster for $4. There Will Be Blood, Religulous, The Haunting in Conneticut, and Green River Killer. I think the last two will suck.

Just saw Despicable Me. Not as good as everyone was raving, but not too bad. The kids laughed a lot which is all that really matters.

Yeah it was good. The Vatican Senior Priest guy was awesome.

The Haunting in CT was bad.

I saw In Time last night...better than I expected it to be.

Yeah it really was. I think the vast majority of horror flicks suck, but this one was especially bad.
