A couple times this season I saw people waiting outside to get in to Cork and I was a block east at Turtle's with about ten other people. And pretty much everything about Turtle's is better than Cork. I have to believe people just don't know it's there.
It's easier to get on a train and go rock out at "Howl at the Moon".

My guy Dave Roberts used to be one of the dueling piano players there. His great and proud claim to fame is writing "The Curly Shuffle" and playing in Jump N' The Saddle Band.

We took my mom there on her birthday

Rob Schneider showed up on stage out of nowhere, performed Aaron Neville's "Dont Know Much" and vanished.

I wouldn't know, but I always felt like Howl at the Moon was like a one night stand. It's really fun while you are there but the next morning you wake up with a headache and regret.

I once paid them $20 to stop playing the Notre Dame fight song halfway through. I'm a sucker.

There is nothing good about Turtles.

I actually have no idea about this version of Turtles. The old one was nasty.

Turtle's is great, Peeps. I dont know what the old one was. Tommy Turtle was a Jimbos bartender who got a liquor license and re-did a former pizza joint.

Talked to my brother and he said its awesome now, so I'll give it a whirl.

Feel free to tell me why and how this is good again? So the last 20 years they have been taking ALL the hotel tax revenue, which I was always aware of, but when that money isn't there, the City needs to cough it up???? wow

and why is the hotel revenue so low this year? Maybe because Mayor Daley ran the conventions out of town with his scamming unions running McCormick Place?

And for the 18th to last time, too bad we dont have a dome for a Super Bowl, Final 4, Political Conventions, etc....but then Major concerts would use it, Circuses might use it, mega wrestling events might use it and then they wouldn't go to the United Center? and who owns the United center who had the most to lose if a dome came to Chicago?

But remember, we could never put a dome, because of the veterans that didnt want the columns taken down, yup, thats the reason. :|

In fairness BF(and to quote Dan BernStine), the new stadium did in fact bring us closer to a cham-peenship ;), and it wasn't the veterans that killed a dome. IIRC, it was developers realizing more $$$ to be made in the South & West loop on new high rise developments(than a dome) and the idiot Bear fans obsessed with "Bear Weather" that kept Boeheim, Coach K & the rest outta here in March/April.

Not even close. lol

Yes, I could see one developer not being a fan of it, but they would have worked his "New Land" to build, into the deal.

The Bears used all of Jerry's contacts on that deal and the Sox got $35 mill, when the distributions came out. Jerry had enough control over that crap, that he would have created a sinking fund to get his $35 mill from the state in some other way. If it was a sinking fund, special assessment to the ISFA, either way he was getting his $35 mill, with or without the Bears.

So with that very safe assumption, one must ask, what did Jerry Reinsdorf have to gain to get the deal done for the Bears and done amazingly quickly??? $680 mill in less than 60 days approved out of nowhere????

Ted Phillips was made president for one reason. To go talk to Jerry and ask for help. Mike McCaskey will not even call Jerry Reinsdorf, the McCaskey's have ZERO political connections. They have ZERO Business skills. This is why they needed Jerry to do the whole thing for them and to think he did it for $35 mill....for his team and not personally...no way in hell.

Wrestlemania still exist? Could it fill 60,000 seats if it does? I know back in the day it could.

How about a bowl game?

I heard Ed Sherman mention this last night in his "Comcast Business of Sports Report". Ed said that Chicago's Soldier Field did make a bid, but the Big Ten Conference decided that Indianapolis was better suited in hosting big events. Conseco Fieldhouse, where the Pacers play, has hosted the Big Ten Men's & Women's Basketball Championships in recent years and felt Lucas Oil Stadium would create continuity as the host for the Big Ten Football Championship through 2015.

It is a much better venue. There is nothing around Soldier Field and I would say there is nothing much right around most places, but the difference is the City of Chicago had/had every chance to make this into an amazing event center and chose not to, due to political alliances and kickbacks.

There is a 30,000 SF building sitting vacant within 300 yards of Soldier field and we do nothing with it besides pay the heating bill and general upkeep of $15,000 a month.
