Let me guess, you didn't like "Black Swan" because it really wasn't a movie about lesbians.

I liked Black Swan a lot cause it was a good movie.

I didn't care too much for your Bridesmaids because it wasn't that good of a movie.

Black Swan was a great movie. Kunis-Portman action was just icing on the cake.

I guess it is like The Hangover...if they took out the part where they went to Las Vegas for a bachelor party and wrote the movie from a woman's perspective.

Contrary to several posts above, this is most definitely a chick flick. It attempts to disguise itself with a couple male "shit in your pants" jokes, but even those fall flat because they are from a woman's perspective. A man would understand that it's funny to shit in your pants in and of itself, not funny because it embarrasses the person who did it.

Ultimately this is a movie about relationships which makes it fall squarely into chick flick category. The real focus of the movie is not really the wedding but whether she is going to dump the bad guy who treats her badly and go for the nice cop. That's women stuff.

Oh, and the previews sell this as basically about a bachelorette party. Don't believe it. THEY DON"T EVEN GET TO THE BACHELORETTE PARTY!

The raunchieness of the whole thing is really overstated as well.

and finally can we stop with the Kristen Wiig is hot bullshit. She's not fat. She's good looking for a female comidienne (faint praise). However, when she stands next to the hot woman in the movie, you can see the dramatic difference between the two.

The movie didn't absolutely suck. It was good for a chick flick. It's just that it wasn't what it was being marketed as.

I guess you won't like the new Payton book because it's not all about Walter's negative past?

When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I thought this would be great viewing myself and my wife. I was a little concerned the day we rented it, because I thought I might have hyped it too much -- and thereby I would be disappointed. I thought there would be more gross jokes and scenes based on what I heard about the Bridal Shop scene. I didn't expect the film to be about the maid of honor's personal issues. I still found a way to just focus on the movie and not cloud my head about what I thought was going to happen.
I'm just a little surprised that others don't seem to have the ability to do the same thing.

You just don't get it, do you?

I know this is hard for you to believe, but as crazy as it sounds, the reason I (and many others) did not like the movie is not because we lack the ability to blah blah blah blah \whatever crap you just said, but instead the reason we didn't like the movie is because the movie wasn't good.

Saw it last night and while there were some funny parts in the movie it was clearly a chick flick that the producers felt the needed to make a bit raunchy to throw straight heterosexual men a bone. To say it wasn't a chick makes you ghey.

I swear someone said it was the female version of The Hangover. It wasn't at all. The Hangover was funny pretty much all the way through the movie. This had parts that just dragged on for no reason. Fuck you people for saying it was worth a watch. It wasn't.

Rack me I'm out.

I could care less whether or not if you like the movie. That's not the point of this discussion -- something you've been unable to grasp.
Do you remember penning this?
"I thought it was going to be all about a bachelorette party and its not about that at all."
You wanted a female version of "The Hangover" is your flimsy reasoninig for disliking it. Lame!

Swung on and belted. I don't find the Hangover as funny as most, but this movie wasn't even close to being as funny as the Hangover.

Kristen Wiig does look pretty good sitting by the pool in the movie Extract, however.

Really? Where would you say it ranks with these other movies? (I'll only list the ones you've seen multiple times):

-Definitely, Maybe
-Mama Mia
-The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
-How Stella Got Her Groove Back
-Footloose

On a scale of 1-5, how many flavored martinis would you give each one of these movies?

It's outstanding how came up with that list totally off the top of your head.

Definitely,Maybe is the only movie I have seen from that list and I would give it 4.5 chocolate martinis.

Ill have to check with my father in law with Mama Mia

Only if owning the Blu-Ray/DVD combo and a set of action figures makes him a huge fan.

"p.s. i love you" is not a gay movie. it is a love movie. it is a heterosexual love movie that you love, and you have posters of it everywhere on your walls and you have a tee shirt that says "give me more swank".

I also just recently watched this as it was on HBO and I had nothing better to do. I think it could have been hilarious but it was just meh. I laughed a few times but by the end I wanted to just slam my head in a cabinet door until I passed out.

I kept thinking that Aniston could have played Wiig's role which led me to wonder how Aniston can be compared to Jolie when she's really a lot more like Wiig. If I married Brad Pitt would I suddenly become hot?

This movie blew, and the trailers and buzz before it came out totally misrepresented the storyline. I blame myself for trusting Kristen Weig could write something funny for 90 minutes. Has anybody watched SNL the last 5 years? Awful skits that you can tell a minute in are gonna suck, but amazingly drag on for 9 more minutes.

People that thought this movie was good shouldn't be allowed to recommend movies to others. It sucked.

A few laughs. Overrated. Melissa McCarthy, who shits in a sink, gets an Academy award nomination? I know the Oscars are self-indulgent circle jerks but at least have some kind of acting standard.

Piling on with the "meh" comments. I can't believe how long that movie is. 2+ hours? Not remotely worth it.

I actually enjoyed this. Maybe my standards are very low, but I just wanted a few laughs here and there and this movie delivered it. Plus, I've successfully used the phrase lap nap with the gf.

Watched it over the weekend. Most. Overrated. Movie. Ever. People loved it because women can be funny and raunchy just like men. No, you cant. This sucked, go back to making chick movies and leave the funny to the professionals. And fuck every critic that said this was great, may you have to watch this shitfest on repeat the rest of your life until you stab your fucking eyballs.

Female comedy breaks down into two categories:

1. trying to write/tell masculine jokes in an attempt to get laughs from shock value
2. writing/talking about things particular to women that may be funny to women but are incomprehensible to men (much like the Three Stooges for women)

They fail in entertaining the entire population in either instance, whereas a guy like Eddie Murphy at his best was universal.
