I'm about ready to murder my iPod...ever since upgrading to iOS5, it's been flaky as shit, and now iTunes is doing the same...

....all I want to do is transfer an album I bought on my computer over to my iPod...no, iTunes insists on doing some sync procedure that always hangs iTunes...and even if I'm able to prevent the sync when iTunes starts, it still won't copy the album over...

...fucking piece of shit.

see this is why us uncivilized savages use regular ole MP3 players. while we're not hip fashionable silhouettes dancing to u2 because we're not cultured enough to listen to newspeak-sounding-things like "PODCASTS", we somehow survive, much like our forefathers in the 1300s, with functional equipment that allows us to listen to "MP3s".

you know what i have to sync with when i want to put an album on my mp3 player? nothing. i hook it up via usb and like magic it comes up as a "removable disk" and i can just copy the files on over and PRESTO, the album is on my mp3 player. there's no hassle, trouble, or fanfare... there's just a clean and crisp exchange of files with minimal (read: none) overhead.

aside from my normal disdain for apple, i absolutely loathe itunes... apple wants you to use some giant bloated application to play your mp3s.... mainly because there's a built in tab to go and buy shit from them. their giant "innovation" to the world of media players is integrating a shop into a mp3 player for fuck's sake!! and then they try to force it on non-culties who don't own i-crap when you download quicktime or something else that features the taint of their logo that makes light of original sin (it's almost like god was tryin'ta give you a sign, eh? =)

i dunno... while i give apple props for their product design, and while i will note that when you look at mp3 players everyone's in the ~2-16gb range for the most part and some of theirs are like 64gb and that's impressive.... if you HAVE to use itunes to "sync up" and do all this gay shit just in order to do something that's as fundamentally simple as copying mp3s to a flash drive, it makes you wonder why people even bother with this shit in the first place.

also, i'm not cool with the concept of my mp3 player (a simple electronic tool) having an operating system. when you have a simple electronic device that serves 1 purpose (or 2 if you've gone one of them with a screen that can show pictures/play movies) i don't need an operating system there that insists on upgrading itself for reasons i cannot possibly fathom.

seriously, why the hell would you need to upgrade an operating system on a mp3 player? is there going to be some support for the OGG VORBIS format or something? do they promise 33% better playback? new video codecs? what the hell could be the reason that you have to upgrade the operating system on a simple device?

also, if you have a proper operating system going on there's way more room for background processes. who's to say that if your i-pod is able to access the internet via wifi/3g/4g/etc (and surely it can cuz i bet apple has found a way that you can buy mp3s from their store right from the comfort of your mp3 player) it's not sending out all kinds of statistics about what you're listening to and when and where and all that... who's to say there isn't some file in a database linked to your account that has your complete song history and all of that, for marketing purposes or whatever? maybe someday they'll be able to track down scofflaws who play pirated mp3s because you know, everyone can't wait to blow the RIAA.

argh, i need to shut up and go do something productive as opposed to flooding the board, but like, stuff like this is just yet another example why i'll never own another apple product. i got a macintosh once for $10, and then i turned around an hour later and sold it for $100. my relationship with apple is a net profit of $90, so as far as i'm concerned i'm ahead in the game and i'm never looking back, you know, cuz we can't forget what happened to lot's dumbass family in the bible =D

who uses ipods anymore? I updated a chip that I insert into the back of my head that plays all my tunes. I just plug in all my apple-related products into my ear and I'm ready to go.

Seriously, my family has fully gone to the darkside. 2 Macbook pros, 1 ipad, 3 ipods, 2 iphones. It's like Steve Jobs threw up all over my house.
