Late to the party,but for someone who WANTED Quade,he really just screwed himself.
He did not have the respect of the veterans. When that happens,the house of cards collapses. Also,his bizarre handling of the pitching staff was his ultimate downfall.

I will not question anything Theo does,but PLEASE do not bring Martinez back here. His tryst with Sandberg's wife is disgusting. Theo would open up a whole can of worms.

Sandberg will not be hired in any capacity. There is no way the Theo hires the "fan favorite backup QB" to be on the staff and draw attention away from his manager.

I've heard they like Bud Black but that would be even more compensation though not as much as it would take if the wild rumor of interested in Madden happened.

I've also heard the Boston bench coach Hale mentioned.

I hope that Friedman leaves Tampa and that the door to madden opens.

Sandberg is the right choice. Just like Girardi he'll go on to have a successful career managing somewhere.

I also think Sandberg will make a solid if not a great manager too and also agree there's no way he's hired to the major league coaching staff with the Cubs. Not a fan of Martinez.

As to who I'd like to see get hired, it has to be someone adept at working with and developing young talent and someone with a long term time horizon, like 8 to 10 years, so I have to trust these guys will make the right decision based on the interview process and the information they have at their disposal.

I can't see Maddon being available but clearly he'd be the top choice hands down.
