Just got done watching the latest documentary in the series about the former
basketball star Chris Herren. Holy shit what a story. I found this to be a very
powerful documentary. Essentially a story about a high school basketball star
that becomes an alcoholic and drug addict. This was one of the most powerful
stories I have seen in a while, probably has a lot to do with my own journey but
it is well worth your time to check it out. While I found it difficult to watch at
times it was uplifting in the end and gives me hope for my life moving forward.
Things have been difficult for me the last few months, I hope I can show the
strength and courage that Herren shows in this film.

This is why I like you T-Bone... Good eye. I watched most of the doc, and I have to say it was real eye opening to find out what was actually going on with a former NBA player I used to follow before he went overseas. I had no clue dude was literally doing rails before walking into the Fresno St. Arena. Then he'd go drop 30pts on a ranked team. The team with him and Rafer Alston should have gone deeper in the tournament back in '99 but I understand why it didn't happen now. Herren was a super solid combo guard and would have transitioned to PG just fine in the league, but he couldn't get away from his impulses... I mean playing an nba game all hopped up on oxy is some of the most truthful info those 30 for 30 docs have told people. I could imagine more nba players than we'd suspect get all fucked up on scrip meds... Damn.

Some of those scenes with Tark were tough to watch. You can tell Tark loves the guy, but is still so disappointed. Im man enough to say it made me sad.

I can admit that I shed a few tears at different times during the program. A lot of the
stuff he went through really hit home for me. I am going to keep it on my DVR for a while
and likely watch it a few more times.

I don't understand the RT thing, so I don't know if Simmons wrote the "drop Chris Harren a line" or if The Big Lead did, but to me, it was a funny choice of words given the guy's drug problem past.

like this very often but this is one of the best 30 in 30's I have seen. If you love basketball and
can respect a man breaking down and building himself back up to be an incredible human being
you'll love it.

I just can't say I am shocked anymore. It's an old story about guys with talent being on drugs while they play and it just got worse and worse.

The LLoyd Daniels story? Gary McLain, John Drew Roy Tarpley, Lawrence Taylor, Kemp, Raines, Hamilton and these are the high profile stories, there is probably another 20 guys everyone can name.

It's sad everytime, even if they didnt go home to play.

Just didnt shock me watching it. I could have wrote the story for the guy.

30 for 30 sometimes is overtly pretentious but i'm always intrigued by these kinds of stories.

I sorta see what you're saying, but this was kind of an extremely indepth update about a player who JUST went through this shit... Highly recommended.

Personally it showed me just how easy it is for an nba player to get legally made scrip drugs nowadays. That has to be rampant. Im talking adderal, pain killers, oc. Bad and almost as scary as the mob having the sportsworld by the balls. Yay dilapidated sports culture.
