You obviously didnt get the facts before you posted.

And its not condescending. You frequently make statements on this board that seem like the thoughts of a non sports fan. John Salmons, QBR being a ranking system, trying to take credit away from a GM because he "had a lot talented players", Joe Paterno is sympatheic figure, Tiger Woods is bad for golf....

Indeed someone can ask a question. You dont do that. You post a misguided opinion then embark on a back and forth where you finally get the facts and amend the first opinion.

Im not being a sports fan snob. Im the first to admit when I dont know about certain aspects of sports/topics discussed here.

Wow. I didn't know you payed that close attention to shit I wrote on here.

Do me a favor. Put me on your ignore list. Thanks.

It's not just a typo. You made up a word and then mis-spelled your made up word.

That's kinda awesome, right? :D

Well said Bob.

Paterno should run for Pope. He seems to have the playbook down.

If you're going to look at it as black and white, right and wrong, you can only conclude that Paterno was wrong. I dont have any sympathy for him. He was treated like a God for years. He should have understood his responsibilty. But he was an old man. He told someone else and figured he would let others handle it. That cant be excused. But he didnt try to cover it up or hide something to protect a friend. If he had, I would say he was as guilty as Sandusky. He was just an old man who didnt do as much as he should have. Thats his legacy.

+1. The longer this goes on, the more angry everyone gets. It has gotten to the point where everyone seems to be more angry at him than any other person, including Sandusky, in this scandal. He is getting absolutely crucified.

Well there's two obvious reasons he's being talked about the most. The first is that he's been the face of that entire university for decades and is very closely involved in the case. The other reason is because there's debate to be had when it comes to where he stands in the whole mess. There's no debate or really anything to discuss when it comes to Sandusky. Everyone agrees that he's a sick, evil human being that deserves everything that's coming to him. Not much else to say.

Joe Paterno's quote from his house:

"The kids that were victims or whatever they want to say, I think we all ought to say a prayer for them. Tough life, when people do certain things to you."

He didn't do anything about it, he didn't stop it. It's just as bad, maybe a worse in a few ways.

edit: with that quote...he's just a fucking asshole.

There are characteristics of child predators...there's could be some sort of psychology there maybe even physiological. Same could be true for serial killers, I don't really know. Could be a disconnect of right from wrong, compulsion, etc. Obviously Sandusky is a sicko of the sickest kind and in my opinion evil.

There was a whole group of people that put their organization, jobs, positions or whatever above the needs of those kids. They did protect this man, they allowed it to go on. That to me, may be even sicker. They knew the difference and they all turned a blind eye to it. Not just a few but several, and it's absolutely disgusting.

I don't think Paterno realizes what's going on his quotes and his tone when he said Were gonna have a press conference have a very "Don't worry we'll sort this all out " vibe

This is so fucked up

All it took was one person to call the police. All these supposed smart men making all the same dumb decision.

I think the police knew, didn't they? I'm pretty sure I read that two detectives overheard Sandusky talking to the mother of one of his victims.

Yes, the police knew about some of the reports. They took it to the DA - he decided not to press forward. The same DA who is now missing and presumed dead and his laptop was found in a river, damaged beyond repair.

Really?? I have not read that. I better catch up on my reading. This is starting to look like a big coverup that goes higher than some PSU guys.

The DA had no connections to PSU - didn't even attend football games, supposedly. He decides not to go forward with the case that involved the under cover agents listening to the phone conversation in which Sandusky apologized to a mother of a victim. Sandusky even says he'd rather be dead if he can't get forgiveness from the mother. Yet the DA decides not to pursue it.

Sometime later, he tells people he is going "antiquing" - and later police find his car abandoned. They don't know for sure if he went into hiding, was murdered, or committed suicide - but he is presumed dead. His laptop was found in a nearby river in pieces, with the hard drive beyond repair.

Authorities have no idea if this is connected to the incidents with Sandusky.

Honestly this all sounds like a bad movie.
