Mike Maddux indicated that after he was asked to interview for the Cubs Managerial position, the first phone call he made was to Brother Greg...They discussed the idea of Greg joining Mike as part of his staff. He would not go further and indicate what Greg's response might have been, nor if the position Greg would fill would be that of a Bench coach or Pitching Coach. But both of them are intriging candidates and it would seem like a great pair to have guiding the franchise on the field.

I think Maddux is a lock for the Cubs Managerial job.

Maybe Mike gave him the "Without me you don't ever get drafted" card? lol

Which is kinda true. All the scouts came to Mike Maddux, then they saw Greg, 3 years younger.

I have heard the story a few times and it is often repeated when teams draft smaller guys at pitcher, but if Greg Maddux was noticed as a Sophomore by ML scouts and drafted in a second rd, he had to be throwing some kind of heat back in 84?
