Guy in my league has DeSean Jackson starting...wanted him to know not to start him. When I inquired about getting a hold of him, my friend (who's brother is the commish and the guy facing him this week) said not to cross him...that bad things would happen.

Seriously? Is this some unspoken code of fantasy football? I've let other people know about this shit before and they've returned the favor.

I would refer this question to Charch. Hopefully Meat has the same issue with his league so your question gets asked.

what a douchebag.
I usually tell the team I'm playing if they have someone who is inactive. Usually don't notice if it is another team though.

15 minutes before start of game, I get a message from my friend:

"If you want to let him know, feel free...his name is ____ ____...he's in the phone book."

 Fucker wouldn't even give me the phone number himself...apparently his brother is in the mob or something and I'm not aware of it?

You're seriously too good of a guy to associate with the people you've described today and in the past.

I had a similar situation today. The guy with Jackson in his lineup is going to the Bears game today, and he invited me to go. I knew he was commuting, and he offered me a free ticket. So I let him know just in case. Normally, it's prison rules.

By the way Lipid, if you tell that guy what I said, bad things will happen. For totally serious.

If somebody doesn't keep up on the tweets / inactives that morning and he has guy in that's not playing, that's his own damn fault. Not your job to manage somebody else's team. What if he sits Jackson and then ends up beating you out for a playoff spot? Being a nice guy doesn't win you anything.

Well, if anyone losing is going to help me, it would be the dbag in question...the other guy is all but out of playoff contention at this point...

...I know it's not my job, but I also know some people have real shit get in the way and can't be on it 24/7 like I am. And, as I said before, people have done this for me before, so it's a pay it forward sort of thing.

Yeah...well, at least I thought so...

...entry fee was 30 bucks...it's not a league for the money...more for giving each other shit week to week and an avenue to make side bets.

Ok if it's just with buddies not for real money then I could see it.

Although if that was happening in my just for kicks buddy league, in think instead of txting to tell the guy we would have all waited then busted his balls for not catching it.

I on the other hand will now sit here and be pissed that I had the foresight to pick up Ray-J Bush on Tuesday, then proceeded to keep him on the bench. Howz that workin out for me

I would agree. It's not your job to call everyone in the league and tell them guys are not starting.

Now you are fringing on calling guys and telling them to change a lineup because of ___________.

If you are playing the guy directly, go ahead and tell him, others STFU.

Obviousely the guy is not a good friend, as you dont have his phone #.

Do you go to local bars and look for illegal square games and call the police too?

Point being, not your job, part of the game, someone misses a guy, too bad. Happens all the time. Don't need to be searching guys out to tell them.

neither are your business, both are football, both are illegal, both make you look like a snitch at best.

UNLESS, maybe you are tied with the commish and wanted him to lose???????? Alterior motive?

The fact you are so concerned about some guys team, that you dont know even well enough to have his phone number, raises questions about your intentions, as not just being a good guy?

If it is a friend of yours, you are talking to go the guy anyways, totally different scenario, than calling a guy you dont know well enough to go asking someone else for a phone #. Especially if your going to the game with the guy.

Way to butcher up that story...

I didn't ask for the number...I simply asked if there was a way for him to let the guy know...once I got the vibe that I shouldn't do it, I didn't...

...snitching...

Hard to butcher a fucked up story to start.

In order to get a hold of a guy in your league, you needed to call your friend, whose brother is the commish, of which your friend warned you not to do this?

You then get an email from your alleged friend with the team owners name and tells you to go find his number.

But you were warned that bad things would happen, of which you stated mob action might be involved in the 30$ league

But I fucked it up??????

If a guy called me, who I barely knew to get another guys number in the league, because of the exact scenario, I might give the guy the number (If I had it handy), because I am not trying to hold anyone down, but you are correct, you would not be in my league next year.

Time to send everyone a facebook message yet?

Yeah, you're still fucking it up...

I never said I was trying to get a hold of the guy...simply asked if my friend (who isn't some guy I barely know, by the way...) could let him know. My friend said he wouldn't, but I could if I wanted to. However, when he said he wouldn't recommend it, I took his advice.

The mob thing was a joke...I figured everyone would be able to figure that out.

I wouldn't tell my own mother to change her lineup, so I sure as shit wouldn't tell a guy that I don't know that well too.

lipid, you could have easily avoided this dilemma simply by remembering the lesson from The Color Of Money. "That's the problem with mercy, kid. It just ain't professional."
