2003 Reggie Wilits or even better 1998 Matt Holliday both taken at the same exact spot 210th as Jordan Danks.

Uh, when he had value. Real or perceived.

Uh, you're going to have to do a better job of backing up your statement than that. When exactly did a mediocre 7th round pick have value? Real or perceived?

I remember seeing him on the Sox Top 10 prospects list from Baseball America, probably in 2009. Her's this blurb:

Prospects On The Move

Posted Jun. 22, 2009 9:15 am by Matt Eddy
Filed under: Promotions

White Sox
Promoted RHP Dan Hudson (5th, 2008) to Double-A Birmingham, the third rung of ladder the Old Dominion product has reached this season. Two other members of Chicago’s robust ’08 draft class already have reached Double-A: Gordon Beckham and Jordan Danks. Hudson ranks seventh in the minors with 87 strikeouts after dealing nine of them in his eight-inning Barons debut.

Bottom line is the guy was a "name" in the Sox system in the past and had value as a trade chip. Now after 2 shit seasons, he's a fringe prospect at best.

Not much of a blurb there.

But you're absolutely right. He was a "name" in the Sox system and that's all he was. He was never a trade chip because teams don't trade for mediocre 7th round "names".

So both of those guys had no value as 7th round picks? That is not even looking at other 7th round picks . Just guys taken at the exact same spot as Danks...you can also throw in Hal Morris... you want the whole list of 7th round picks that made the MLB it would go on for pages.Little or no value I think not.

Ok you make a list of all the 7th rounders who made to the majors and I'll make a list of all the 7th rounders who didn't make it to the majors. Whose list do you think will be longer??

I never said he didn't have value. I'm saying he never had enough value for another team to trade for him. Thanks for playing.

Come on dude. "Kenny" is notorious for trading/packaging prospects for vets. He kept Danks knowing CF was a weakness for the big league club and the guy has bottomed out. It happens which is why his philosophy has always been to trade prospects before they become suspects.

Oh well. It happens to the best of GM's.

No big deal.

Chill the fuck out! I know this is a message board, but let's try to have meaningful, constructive dialougue amongst baseball fans...

I'm chill. I just think you're talking out of your ass. Just because "Kenny" has had success trading minor leaguers for vets in the past doesn't mean he has to do it with every minor leaguer in the system. The Kid didn't develop. It happens with middle and late round picks. A lot.

Keyser you are the one talking out your ass. I am quite certain a search through your posts would find you talking up Danks as being a future member of the White Sox outfield. You give Cub fans shit all the time about talking up their prospects too much, just own up to the fact that you swung and missed on this one

So you think when a player shows up on a prospect list made by Phil Rogers proves he had trade value??

Buehrle talking to the Nats proves what a great job Davey Johnson has done managing them the last 3 years.

Davey Johnson became the Nationals manager on June 26, 2011. More facts ...let's see yuo dispute this.

Keith Law TOP 10 White Sox Prospects
Chicago White Sox
1. Tyler Flowers, C
2. Jared Mitchell, CF/RF
3. Dan Hudson, RHP
4. Jordan Danks, OF
5. Trayce Thompson, OF
6. Brent Morel, 3B
7. Dayan Viciedo, 3B/1B/DH
8. David Holmberg, LHP
9. Miguel Gonzalez, C
10. Nathan Jones, RHP

Yep that Danks kid has no VALUE...
DO NOT let the Facts get in the way of your argument or your opinion SCOUT KEYSER
Do you need any other sources?
Is Baseball America and ESPN/Keith Law enough?
I am just wondering how you knew that no teams (including the White Sox) thought Jordan Danks was a prospect.
I would think more then one other team would have come knocking on Kenny's door to ask about his possible availability as a trading chip?
Do you have other sources who did not rank him in any years 2009-2010-2011?

The Chicago White Sox have signed relief pitcher Brian Bruney to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN.com. He previously pitched with Chicago last season, but the White Sox designated him for assignment after a series of poor outings.

Bruney, 30 in February, ended up posting a 6.92 ERA over 19.2 innings with the White Sox last season. His peripheral statistics were somewhat stronger, but still pretty bad. There are some good reasons to like Bruney, though, given that his fastball sits in the mid-90's and he posted a 1.31 ERA over 20 innings with Triple-A Charlotte last season.

The former Yankee has a 4.70 ERA over 258 innings at the MLB level, but even small improvements in his command could end up leading to some serious improvement on the mound. Stark added that he'll make $600,000 next season if he ends up making the big league roster.

Championship.

They desperately need to rebuild. They've been on borrowed time since 2006.

In a way it is. But I certainly didn't want the Sox to give him a contract like the one he got. It looks like they're building a long term disaster down in Miami.

That's why I'm not sad.

I have my memories of his Sox career, but there was no way they should give him those years.

Agreed. I think most sensible Sox fans recognized Buehrle for what he was...and that was not someone in whom you wanted to invest 14+million in for another 4 years.

They wouldn't have had to pay him that contract if they never let him hit free agency. They should have resigned him a year ago and that is what I'm most angry about.
