I'm explaining why I'd rather have him go somewhere else. I understand it was a business decision.

What are you his dad?

Why wouldnt you want him to help your favorite team?

Send your ire to Frank. He thinks Caleb Hanie is a better option. I would just prefer that he went somewhere else. I can think that and be a Bears fan still.

From all the reports it seems Chicago is where Orton wants to be. Don't you want your boy to get his wish, Brick?

I think it's more of a case that it seems like the most realistic option especially since the Jets and Texans don't seem interested. I'd rather be in Chicago than Kansas City too.

It doesn't matter though. Frank says that Orton would just sit the bench behind Hanie anyways.

Hanie is the best option.

As it stands TODAY, as in right now (which is what I have said all week), the guy who has been the backup to Cutler, the guy who has been with the system since Martz came over here, the guy who has worked the most with the Oline, coaches, and WRs (other than Cutler obviously) is the absolute best option for the Bears this Sunday....and even the next couple of Sundays after that.

Might Orton or another QB better a better option 3 or 4 weeks from now? Maybe. Hanie could also fill in nicely, we don't know yet.

And BRick, the Bears traded Orton. The Broncos have cut him. Seeing that they would rather not have Orton on the roster and are starting Tim Tebow, they are the guys that gave up on Orton. Would you say that the White Sox gave up on Aaron Rowand back in Nov 2005?

So what you are saying is that you are ready to usher in the Nathan Enderle era?

You claimed that getting Orton wasn't worth it because he would be in a "backup role". That indicates you don't think he would play over Hanie at any point. You seem to already be backtracking and now setting it at 3 games.

Orton will start the game after he signs. He may backup for one game at most.

No BRick.

I said Orton was not worth $9million to be a backup. Nobody is. If the option is paying Orton $9million or not getting him don't get him. If you can get him cheaper, fine bring him in. But Kyle Orton is in no way, shape, or form a better option for the Bears than Caleb Hanie is right now.

Christ, the guy was behind Brady Quinn and Tim Tebow on the depth chart
If this was not Kyle Orton you would be laughing at anybody who suggested this.

Brick is slowly turning from a Bears fan to a Jets fan. It is sad to watch. Before long he will be a St. John's fan instead of a Purdue fan. Come back to us Brick...

By saying that Orton is a "backup" are you indicating that Caleb Hanie is better than him? If Orton ends up on the Bears I'll be happy to have a signature bet with you that Orton starts at least one game for the Bears this year. You in?

It seems like most of the board thinks that Orton would be starting by the end of the season.

Totally disagree. Jonathin Quinn was hailed as knowing the system.

I highly doubt they will be running the Martz offense anyway. It will be a scaled back version for JimmyFeet Hanie....so might as well bring in a good quarterback.

Put this in your sig- The quarterback who was behind Brady Quinn and Tim Tebow on the depth chart is not worth $9million for 6 games.

You in for a signature bet? If the Bears get Orton, he'll start at least one game for the Bears. Since you think he would just be a backup just accept it.

Rick, your favorite team wins 5 in a row with good QB play. The QB gets hurt and is out for at least 6 weeks. The backup is awful. The trade deadline has passed.

Miraculously, a good veteran qb who would be perfect for the situation becomes available.

Why would you not want that guy?

Here is my rationale since some people have trouble with it.

I think the Bears can get into the playoffs without Orton. I think that Cutler will be back for the wild card round if not the last game of the season. That's why I can think that Orton would be better served going to either the Jets or the Texans because he has a real chance of succeeding there.

Let me put it another way. I want the Bears to win the Super Bowl, but I'm not going to root for Drew Brees to tear his ACL to make it easier. I want what is good for the Bears and Brees. It's the same with Orton. I want both to do well. I don't think the Bears are screwed if they don't have Orton unless Cutler is done for the year.

C'mon, spark. The Bears gave up on him. They gave up on Orton to get a better QB. Just like the White Sox gave up on a pretty good CF in order to get one of the game's premier lefthanded sluggers.

If it meant better things for the Bears I would root for my mom to tear her ACL.

Just dont know why you are dancing around the obvious.

They'd have a better chance with Orton. And he can sign somewhere else in the off season.

Not signing Orton is bad for the Bears.

Not the same thing or even close.

If my favorite team can win a title by getting rid of a guy I like or acquiring one I dont like....thats fine.

I just think it's a situation where people love to argue with me about Orton.

That's what explains how Frank is arguing that Orton wouldn't do much for the Bears with me and rpb is arguing with me that I'm not a real Bears fan because I'd rather have Orton go to a team where he would be playing in the playoffs.

Could it be that you reallly ARE in love with Purdue QB's to the point of irrationality?

You are putting a single players success over the success of your favorite team.

I dont think its a huge leap that people question your fandom with thoughts like that.

If a cub fan said "I dont want Sabathia cuz he's a jerk" Id question that.

If a Bulls fan said I dont want LeBron because I want this to be Rose's team, question that.

To me, if you are a fan, the good of the team comes before any one player you may like.

You disagree. Its cool.
