I would be on the phone with Kyle Orton's agent in a heartbeat upon hearing this news. The other unemployed QBs on the scrap heap such as Trent Edwards, Josh McCown, Jeff Garcia & others aren't all that impressive.

Kyle Orton got a raw deal out in Denver, thanks to that creepy Tim Tebow character and a fan base that doesn't know any better. If he were back here, I actually think he would be an upgrade over both Caleb Hanie & Nathan Enderle, the 5th Round pick that is nothing more than a project at this point as Jay Cutler's primary backup.

Kyle Orton is the best QB available. If you're looking for the best you should be on the phone with his people.

The reports are that the Bears will in fact put a waiver claim in on him. There are some other teams with a worse record who may as well. Caleb is still probably the better option. Orton hasn't played in the Martz offense and aside from Devin and a few lineman has he even played with any of these guys?

Orton is at least in shape and physically ready to do the job. I like him from the pool of candidates out there, but who knows if the Bears will actually get a shot to aquire him, thanks to being so far down on the claim list.

Orton is a decent quarterback very highly overrated by the mutual love affair he had with the media but I'd feel better with him behind center than Hanie.

I have a friend who looks so much like Orton back when Kyle was the starting QB for the Bears people wouldn't believe he wasn't him. He had to get out his license to prove it.

Orton is by far the best available choice. I would say though that he would be as much a stranger to the current Bears system as anybody else.

It has to be Haney's job to lose. If he's solid to start and improving as the season wears down he keeps the job, into the playoffs if necessary. If he is failing, you go to the next option. But if he's failing, I really don't think the next option matters as the Bears are done. QBs don't just come in and run unfamiliar offenses well, that would be especially true with a Martz offense.

I have my doubts about Cutler for a first playoff game. If Lovie's phases get the Bears to a second game with a ready Cutler, then Lovie is a football genius.

I wouldn't rule it out, probably because the Redskins aren't exactly satisfied with Rex Grossman or John Beck, Bucky. Needless to say, John played more like Conservative know-it-all Glenn Beck when head coach Mike Shanahan benched Rex earlier this season.
