I was so into Thanksgiving yesterday, I don't know a whole lot about it,” Bears coach Lovie Smith said. “What happened? Could you tell me what happened.”

When the play was described to Smith, he shrugged.

“Oh really,” he said. “Oh man, I'm sure the league will have something to say about that.”

A reporter then piped up that’s not always the case with Suh.

“Next question,” Smith responded

Lovie needs to be completely focused on the Raiders.

I could careless what his thoughts are on Suh. He was right, the league will take care of it.

Excellent point. What did the writer who asked the question really expect Lovie to say?

I think Lovie is a very good coach but after 8 years of non-answers why bother asking the dude anything?

#1 because its the hot story right now
#2 because they play the Lions twice each year
#3 Suh gave Cutler a forearm to the head last year in Detroit
and #4 because of the chippyness between the Lions and Bears last time they played.

So, that is why they are asking those questions right now.

Lovie was 100% correct by going all "next question" in true Lovie form.

Frank,
The point I was making is Lovie has been giving non-answers to every question asked of him for 8 years. The guy has nothing to say. I think the press should just stop showing up everytime he goes to the podium. Send a message to the Bears brass. "He don't like no frickin questions? FU,we got better things to do,like interview Urlacher and play it back at half the speed to figure out what the hell he said."

Jimmy, they looked extra hard to find someone who won't say "boo" at a press conference. Bear brass is avoiding another Ditka and isn't otherwise looking to create a media creature. Forgetting he's in baseball, you'll never see Ozzie on their podium

I thought Lovie's answer by asking "what happened?" was fairly comical. I did notice he answered the standard questions about Bears-Raiders.

It would be poor form of Lovie to start spouting opinions about Suh or the Lions. Good coaches don't get into other teams' dirty laundry.

When your team plays the Lions and Suh rips off your QB's helmet and his linemate drills your QB into the ground,a lot of coaches would say something.
Lovie must be on Nyquil 24x7.

RFDC,
That's funny, but feel free to name the coaches besides Lovie that would have NO REACTION WHATSOEVER after his QB got cheapshoted two times. I would say that having no reaction borders on abnormal behavior.

Jimmy, let it go man. Just let it go.

Lovie is Lovie. He is a good coach, he gets the players to play for him. He does not need any overreaction to accomplish stuff.

I agree,I'm in his corner even though his ingame decisions are questionable (not this year though). That one post-game conference bothered me.

One of the best post game comments I've ever heard from any coach was Lovie after the win against Philly: "The Chicago Bears should never be 8 point underdogs".

He should have said he wanted to actually see the play for himself before saying anything not just heard it described to him.
And I'll expect interesting answers from lovie when the press starts asking intelligent questions. It goes both ways.
