is that it means Martz has no hesitation calling plays Hanie cannot make and should not be attempting, interception number 3 being the best example of this.

There must be a reason why Hanie went undrafted (even thoug no one in the media has ever explained it). He has never started an NFL game.

There was a lot of talk of the Bears not changing the offense and before the game of Hanie going out to win the game, not manage the game.

Hanie, you are a back up, first priority is not to lose the game. The Bears lost that game in the 1st half.

Martz also should be slapped for that screen pass before halftime, run the ball or roll Hanie out, make it a run/pass option, make it an easy read for the QB.

I did not get to see the game. From looking over the stats it seems he played a much better 2nd half.

Most people pretty much expected to lose this game.

I think there is still a legit shot at going 4-2 over these next few games.

I'm waiting to comment until CGS inevitably graces us with a thread about Hanie later this evening.

hanie was trying to do too much thanks to martz not changing things in the system for him. barber had a few big runs and they never built on that. forte wasn't used enough.

the raiders should've blown them out; credit the bears defense for keeping them to field goals...and the ineptness of their offense. palmer had some awful throws.

I know Bush has had a nice little run, but keep in mind that the Raiders were without McFadden too. Both teams were undermanned.

I am not going to let the defense off the hook either. Jiggets on the post game show said the defense played "lights out". Waddle says the defense was excellent. When the defense gives up 25 points, lights out and excellent are not the words I would use.

Yeah the offense didn't help with some bad field position, but the first FG had nothing to do with bad field position. And after the Bears took a 7-6 lead, the Raiders went down the field and took the lead again.

Then when the Bears cut the lead to 18-13, the defense failed again and the Raiders scored a TD to basically put the game out of reach.

This goes to my pet theory that the Bears defense sometimes is given too much praise and not enough scrutiny.

Even with Hanie, 4-2 is not out of the question. The Chiefs, Seahawks, and Vikings should be wins, no question. The Packers we will probably lose to and the Broncos are 50-50.

Somebody should adapt the Bears playbook to have more run-option plays for Hanie. He is much more mobile than Cutler. He should get a little better with his throws the more he plays.

I wonder if he has a bad game next week you don't take a closer look at McCown who is certainly not great but Hanie was a hiney yesterday.

If he had just managed the game they might have won.

the offense was absolutely anemic. a defense can only hold up for so long. every time the raiders got good field position, the defense held them to a field goal. they finally broke for that one TD but seriously, if they didn't play that well, the bears would've lost something like 49-13.

the raiders "took the lead" again--9-7. that's hardly daunting. the offense was bad. they were poorly run by martz.

hanie is just no damn good, he can do one thing well and that is run...his arm is weak and can not throw on the run...martz did not want this bum to be his backup...and as far as mccown? well he is worse and does not even belong in the league.

GIven that Hanie threw 3 INTs and the short field the Raiders were given time and time again, the D played pretty goddam good. If the Raiders even managed to turn just ONE of those FGs into a touchdown, that game would have been over long before the 4th quarter started.

In BigFans "Predict the Score",I said the Bears would lose (by much more than they did) and Hanie would have 3 picks and two fumbles.

At least he didn't fumble. :?

give him another quarter or two and he will, the way he holds the ball with one hand by his side while running he is begging for it.

I agree, but I could also see a scenario where they go 0-6. There really are no givens here on out. On the other hand, the Chiefs almost beat the Steelers with Tyler Palko. I expect Hanie to be better next week.

I like Hanie's potential. I think he can be a very good QB so,I'm not going to destroy the guy after one start. I don't want a "game manager". That is an insult to anyone who plays the QB position. He can play to win but taking some sacks or throwing out of bounds is all part of that, too. Just ask Cutler after season one with the Bears.

I like his potential too. His decision making yesterday was pretty brutal. Can't throw 3 picks on the road and expect to win, just can't do it. And if he can't scramble to his left at all, other defenses are gonna figure that out pretty damn quick.

Bush can be a starting RB in this league. I think it's safe to say Hanie isn't a starter.

Most of the burden of this loss does fall on the offense....but i think the performance of the defense was a little overrated. I think they were OK but they were far from excellent as Waddle put it.

Sixteen of the Raider points began with drives inside the Raider 30 yard line. So field position was not a factor. Another Raider drive began at the 38 yard line.

Yes the Bear defense was stout when the Raiders began inside Bear territory but they could have played better too, they forced only one turnover. A grade of C+ or B- in my book.

i don't see what makes you think this guy has a big upside...weak arm, poor decision making are a recipe for failure..if he were able to be a game manager for the next 5 weeks and go 2-3 i would be surprised.

weak arm? The guy hit a WR in stride 55 yards away yesterday.

As a manager ( yes I manage people) you have to put your personal in the best position to succeed, which Lovie and Martz didn't do.Plus in the publics eye management has to admit they are wrong..ie Lovie saying the defensive player made a helluva a play not a bad call.

I thought Martz called a pretty good game with the exception of the call when they were 2nd and 1 at the end of the first half. Hanie played with a lot of heart and I expect his performance to improve. Maybe a few more designed runs.
