I guess the bonus baby with the NTC will be back. Quite a stack of money he's made for being a middle reliever. Or will he finally come up with a few more pitches to be a starter? I've never liked this guy. my dislike of Hendry clouds my judgement regarding him.

According to Meat there should be news on SLoth today. His dumbass is going to end up being a minor league coach again instead of just straight up being fired.

As long as his ass is nowhere near Wrigley that's fine by me.

Theo basically said at the presser today that ARam will not be brought back. Also, they have spoken internally about Z, but have yet to speak to Z directly about his future with the team. The tone of it made it sound like Z is not wanted back by people in the organization.

It's from Kaplan, so probably garbage:

Yesterday, our friend Mark Carman at 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City spoke with Royals GM Dayton Moore who indicated that he would consider taking on Zambrano if the deal made sense for his club. "We would have to be interested. We would have to explore it because that's what you should do. You should explore every opportunity. Carlos Zambrano is a heckuva competitor," said Moore. "Carlos Zambrano has had a lot of success in the major leagues. Carlos Zambrano is actually a very pleasant, easy going, classy person off the field. Sometimes, as with all of us the competitiveness takes over and brings out qualities in us that we are not proud of. Obviously the Cubs grew tired of some of his outbursts but I believe in our coaching staff and we'll always take a chance and a risk on certain players. We'll see how that particular situation unfolds," he said.

"To answer your question, yes, we have the ability to eat any contract we feel is necessary to improve the club," Hoyer said last week on Chicago Tribune Live. Epstein also confirmed that position when he was in our Chicago Tribune Live studios adding "but before you do that you have to determine what value that player has to the ball club. If you then determine that you need to move that player then yes we have the ability to swallow whatever contract we need to."

We all know who Kaplan's source is. Not sure anything he says has much validity to it these days now that his source has been removed from all baseball related discussions.

Kaplan listens to Crane Kenney? i dont get it

to me, Kaplan's always been in the middle of things and has his pulse on everything Cubs...has relationships with a lot of players, coaches, etc...whatever he says i take it as truth , he seems to have a good common sense

although the last couple years he seems to have changed a bit for the worse...seems to have shed the lovable loser fan thing, and taken on the bully win at all costs mentality

The Cubs are apparently working out the player from Cuba. I doubt they actually sign him but they are giving him a look.

Ryan Doumit is on the market and he turned down a 3 mil 1 year deal with the Dodgers. I would love for the Cubs to pick him up to motivate smoke dog and possibly take his position. I never ever ever ever want to see Koyie Hill play for the Cubs again. A Doumit/Soto tandem could be good with 1 or both helping to fill in at 1st for LaHair. I don't know much about how he handles a pitching staff though which is very important.

Doumit has a good bat but offers next to nothing defensively behind the plate. I do see the value if he is part of a cost effective short term 1B platoon but I doubt they drop that kind of cash for a part time player.

Can we finally make this go away? It wasn't funny at post 1 or 2.

Doumit has had trouble staying healthy. But when he is healthy, he's a nice player. He can catch , as well as playing first base and right field (don't want to see him out there). I would not be surprised if they were thinking about him at 1st base, more than catching. Pena would cost 2-3 times more than Doumit and Doumit hits for a higher average and has decent pop too. Doumit is a switch hitter too, which is a plus, when considering his value as a pinch hitter on days he might come off the bench. This would be a nice move.

Saw that a few days ago. I think Theo would like to get Varitek. I would like to trade soto still. A guy I wouldn't mind having who has been rumored in trades is the Red's Ryan Hannigan.

I want Ricketts to crawl into a hot stove if it is in fact true that he is trying to extend the contract of fucking Crane Kenney. Keeping him around is bad enough but now you want to give him a contract extension?

Kenney must have something on someone in the Ricketts family or the Cubs hierarchy. Maybe the dyke?

I am completely ok with this move. 2 years and 10 M isnt stupid money and DeJesus can at least play a major league outfield.

Completely okay with this. He's a major league quality player and it lets me know that Theo thinks Tyler Colvin sucks too. Win Win.

Hopefully next year or his option year, he'll be a competent bench player for the Cubs.
