FINE ... so that we may all sleep tonight, Twizzlers/Gummi's redacted .... replace with Hershey's Milk Chocolate bar ... the purest, simplest form of candy bar.

There is absolute lunacy in this thread.

1. Spaulding is right - those caramel bars have to be in the discussion.
2. Reese's PB cups are candy bars. The shape shouldn't matter. And they are either #1 or #1A. All-time classic.
3. Anybody that doesn't like Twizzlers as a solid stand-by must be a head trauma victim. They are always good to have around - they must stay on the list. And Red Vines are great - if you like your Twizzlers 12 months old and dry from not being in a wrapper the whole time. :puker:
4. Snickers are "meh". Severely over-rated, but not terrible.

I hear that so dang much.

Sputnik is right too. We can have a special cup candy section, too small of a category.

Can we all agree cinnamon candy sucks.

I always associate Chunky with having raisins ... raisins are the closest thing to dogshit that is legally allowed into food for human consumption, excepting the VERY occasional jonesing for some Raisin Bran.

Keep your stupid candy semantics to yourself. Candy snob. They are all freakin candy bars.

When the "candy bars" go on sale 2/$1 at the Jewels, are Reese's included? Are Peppermint Patties candy bars or simply "patties". Kit-Kats should be disqualified then because they have the unfair _4 bar advantage" vs. the poor Milky Way.

It's amazing how everyone's favorites seem to have legs. Has there ever been a bar that had its poularity lapse.
It seems like all products have a life cycle but good candy bars roll on forever.
Anybody have a favorite that they can't get anymore?

There is a clear answer here for historians.

Candy bar excellence was achieved in the early 1970s by Mars, Inc. in the form of the braided Marathon Bar. One easily remembers chewing off a portion of the bar while flecks of chocolate festooned on one's shirt along with hair-thin lengths of caramel flying into other parts unknown. In a move that was no doubt orchestrated by the Communists in 1981 to foment unrest and anger in the American public, Mars, Inc. discontinued production of said "Bar of Excellence."

Only recently has such heights of rectangular candy-making been matched and, yes, exceeded with the production of the Take 5 bar by The Hershey Corporation. I pray to the various Gods of the world that our counter-intelligence organizations have significant resources at their disposal to prevent al-Qaeda from infiltrating the corporate boardrooms of The Hershey Corporation and perpetrating a similar act of hostility against the American sugar-eating public during these desperate times.

1) Snickers - especially frozen
2) Spaulding's caramel bars.
3) Twix
4) Marathon, only if not too old and hard (Insert Joke Here), those that remember will understand.
5) Chunky
Honorable mention for payday if in a non-chocolate mood.
