I've always felt that the MJH NBA/Bulls talk is pretty shallow. No original thoughts at all. Great on football and baseball but there's a pretty big chasm in the talk intelligence and freshness between those sports and pro hoops.

Well they'd tell you that.

I heard Harry ask Stacey King if he thought Ben Wallace needed to score in the paint for the Bulls to be more successful, but I don't think Harry understands what score in the paint means. Yes, it would be great if Ben Wallace got 10-12 points a game like he mentioned, but most, if not all, is going to come from offensive putbacks or broken plays where he is simply left unguarded.

When people complain, including myself, about the Bulls not scoring in the paint, and opposing teams not having to honor their inside play, we're talking about someone who the the other team respects, and is a post up threat. Hell, I'd take a big man like Randolph who can knock down a jumper.

Right now, we don't have a player like that, and the Bulls may still be good enough to get through the East, though that's probably unlikely as there will be a team, maybe not until Detroit, that closes out on their jump shooters better than we've seen in the regular season.

I sure do, but I also think offense will become the last part of his game. Right now, we can see he's a tremendous shot blocker, and his rebounding is improving. If you throw the ball around the rim, he can slam it. I'm not sure he'll become the typical post-up type player, but I kind of see him as a slashing big man who runs well, and will be able to score a lot around the basket because of his athleticism.

Right now, we'll continue to see flashes, but he's got such tremendous upside in the future!

I agree. I think he could have the "want to" to develop into a post-up player, as he gains confidence dunking and blocking. i don't think he'll be typical post-up either, but he has a dynamic about him that suggests he could "fill the role" if called upon to do so. At that point, it's about the other pieces then, isn't it?

If Thomas is able to continue to improve his inside scoring to go along with Hinrich, Gordon, Deng, Nocioni, and Wallace (playing at a good level for another two seasons or so), I really see little reason to break up the team by trading for a Gasol type player. Of course, the Bulls need to show progress in the playoffs, and probably win at least one round to avoid some significant change. I think Paxson will look to add another big man from the draft as well to help provide minutes for the aging Wallace, and probably departing P.J. Brown.

I think the future here just looks so bright, and, as you mentioned with Thomas, we have a player with the potential in the front court to be a special player.
