Granted, it's coming from Phil Rogers.

"A Cubs source confirmed that Epstein has expressed some interest in both the 39-year-old Varitek and the 45-year-old Wakefield, but nothing appears imminent with either player as the team explores options with more shelf life."

Varitek is fine as a backup. The Cubs already have several #5 starters, so I would pass on Wakefield. Though, I do appreciate his consistency.
