That was a pretty wild episode, I can't believe he slept with his mother. Crazy. That explains quite a
bit actually. Next week looks very interesting.

Yeah, Jimmy's mom definitely has some issues going on. I'm shocked she didn't take the same knife that the Commodore ended up getting. The finale should be something...

Yeah, I was waiting for that to happen, that skank is a crafty sociopath. You saw it when she came to visit Jimmy in college, boozing it when he had an essay to write, talking to his dorm people, digging for dirt and tagging along to his dance. She really showed her colors when she targeted his teacher and faked being "roughed up" by his teacher so she could have her guy/son Jimmy beat the shit out of him and be forced to come home. Now that may have been a total accident, but having watched the show and seeing her character....I believe that she plans most things out to benefit her etc etc. Just listen to her talk to Jimmy about his dead wife/wife's lover so non-chalantly, she has some screws loose, but she is a wily slut.

Of course the total tell was Jimmy being in his reading class and explaining what the book passage meant when the other students were in the dark....
--"His mom was telling him the wrong things...he was so close he could taste it" etc. Kinda like whats been going on throughout this whole season concerning Jimmy, mother and the business.

Everyone's been waiting for the incest scene since early last season. The most anti-climactic incest scene in the history of incest scenes. I wonder if Van Alden's plot is running its course and the actor is leaving the show. The way the left the episode doesn't leave much open for his character besides prison. I find his whole humorless dour self-righteousness to be the most amusing part of the show.

Good finale; I was worried they wouldn't be able to cover enough in 60 minutes but I thought it wrapped things up nicely. Jimmy absolutely had to go at this point in the story, and I can't believe I have seen so many mixed/negative reviews in denial about this. Jimmy and Nucky could not simply kiss and make up at this point in time, and even if Nucky didn't buy Eli's story, he's far more easily controlled/duped. Margaret giving the land to the church was pretty funny and Van Alden moving to Capone's future headquarters is an interesting development.

My problem is that we are left with no real protagonist. The show had very few likable characters before that finale. But both Jimmy and Nucky had a sense of honor buried way down deep inside them so the viewer could root for one or the other. Now there is no Jimmy and Nucky has gone from complicated to downright evil. At least that's how I see it. I'll still probably watch though.

Jimmy had to go, he was in over his head..like eli told him "my brother is smarter than you"...nucky will force that priest to sign that deed back over to it's rightful owner as soon as he is made aware of this betrayal. and eli can not be killed he is the fall guy, he is going to plead guilty.

I see the point but I'm not sure how evil Nucky necessarily has to be in this instance. If he thought Jimmy ordered or was at least complicit in trying to have him killed first, then it's an understandable reaction (though this does assume he believed Eli's account and wasn't just doing this for the practical reason I mentioned in my first post).

True, but it would have been nice nonetheless.

So, basically, Jimmy satisfied Chalky and set up the Alderman as somewhat of an "Apology" to Nuck.

Funny how Jimmy's buddy Al Capone ditched his ass at the end, but then again the masked guy (Richard Harrow) and Al could come up big next season and beyond.

jimmy delivered the klansmen to chalky to stop the strike and have him set up a meet with nucky..nucky had him kill the treasurer with the suicide note and used him one last time before he killed him. i don't like the casting for the capone character..they make capone look like an incompetent fool...nucky is the same guy now he was when the series started..he is just a lil more hands on since eli was with jimmy.

I guess someone still sees Nucky as the protagonist.

I'm pretty sure that's a relatively accurate portrayal, as the real sharp guys like Paul Ricca ran the show and let Capone take all the heat.

ricca? he worked for capone..then he worked for nitti..and he spent more time in the can than capone..so how is that accurate?

Time for Margret to eat some lead. What a duplicitous slut. She bangs Sleator, plays dumb to all that goes on around her, she gets duped by the church into emptying her pockets, she is an ungrateful skank and as Nucky said, "I'm not looking for forgiveness", when Nucky catches wind of this Margret will get a nice lead sandwich, one that she deserves.

I agree.

I was really surprised they got rid of Jimmy. Granted, he had burned so many bridges that there really wasn't much else to do with him, but still, he was the most likeable character on a show that doesn't really have any likeable characters.

Overall, the last few episodes did a pretty good job masking what was a pretty boring season. Last season was much better and the writers seemed to care a lot more about weaving the story around real historical events and characters. Last year, I used to watch every season with wikipedia open on the computer so I could pause the show and look up the characters and situations as they were introduced. I found that to be the most fascinating part of the show. this year, they threw that out the window completely. In real life, Nucky goes away for the election rigging...it seemed like an odd divergence have his trial end the way it did on the show.

I wouldn't be surprised if this show was cancelled and I wouldn't be surprised if it came back. Either way, I would watch if it came back and i wouldn't miss it if it didn't.

On the show, he got a mistrial. They can charge him again. Jeaporady hasn't attached. Aren't you a lawyer?

The show isn't being cancelled. It won a ton of Emmy's.

Do you really think they are going to have another trial now that there are no witnesses and no evidence? The election rigging part of the series is over, doubt they bring it back in future seasons.

Yeah, the events leading up to and including the final ep. of season 2 put that trial on indefinite hold. Of course the D.A. said she wanted to get her ducks in order so we'll see.

Other than that, great series even though this season was slow at times and Margret has quickly become my most hated character on the show.

Finally watched this yesterday and it was a pretty good episode. I am curious what they do with
my favorite character Richard Harrow. I doubt he will go to work for Nucky in any capacity so I
wonder if he gets written out or where he latches on. It was interesting to see Agent Van Alden
pop back up as well, it appears he moved to Cicero so maybe they will have some Chicago storylines
next season.

Harrow is the one somewhat sympathetic character that is left. On a certain level I can appreciate the death of Jimmy. We're not talking about great literature here. It's a television program. To do something so logical yet unsatisfying for the viewer is risky. But there are audience expectations that must be met- at least to some degree- or the show will be off the air. Manny must die a brutal death. I suspect Harrow will take care of that.

The only place I can see Harrow ending up is with Rothsteins guys or maybe Capone somehow. He is one of the
few sympathetic characters on the show. There were times when I felt bad for Eli but I am pretty much over that
now.

Whatever happens, I bet he gets his dick wet in that beautiful mom of Jimmy's, and little Tommy becomes an excellent marksman!

I think Jimmy knew that Richard always wanted a family, so he just gave him his.

Well that would be a strange twist. I just don't see Jimmy's mother being attracted to Richard. I wouldn't be
surprised to see her getting written out completely moving forward unless she starts hooking up with Luciano
again.

Harrow has no power. He's just a lackey that will work with whoever else wants to pay him.

That doesn't sound like Harrow at all. Does he really strike you as a guy who is in it for the money? He was loyal to the death to Jimmy because they both fought in the war and Jimmy is the first person to treat him nice and take care of him. That's all Harrow is after. He's more likely to go on a suicide murder spree avenging Jimmy's death than anything else imo.

You can bet your ass that the Harrow-Owen Sleater sidekick showdown that was narrowly averted a few episodes back will be re-visited.

It will never happen but I wouldn't mind seeing those two team up I enjoy both of the characters and their
respective roles on the series. They know how to get shit done.
