Hope the best for the guy. He's frustrated the hell out of me at times, but no NFL player should be crippled. Good prognosis for now, hopefully all goes well tomorrow
Quote:
CHICAGO -- Bears receiver Johnny Knox will have surgery to stabilize a vetebra in his lower- to mid-back after being taken from the field on a cart in the opening minutes of Sunday's 38-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

He has a "positive prognosis for his career and quality of life," according to the Bears. The surgery is scheduled for Monday.

"He has total movement throughout his body, has total use of all his extremities, which is good," coach Lovie Smith said. "We're doing tests right now. He has total movement. He's not paralyzed or anything."

Agreed. Football doesn't matter at this point, just hopes he gets better.

That was an unpleasant sight to be sure. If this had been in a video game, the makers would be lampooned for such preposterous tackling ragdoll physics.

Hope he ends up fine. When I saw that I had a feeling it would be bad. No human body should ever bend in that way.

That is awful. Sounds like the same thing that happened to Nick Collins but a different vertebrae. The entire medical staff needs to be recognized for the tremendous job they do in these situations.

Wow,I missed this last night. I had no idea it was this bad. Best of luck to him. It makes me wonder why there are guys in the NFL smaller than Knox. I just saw a team (forgot who) who had a WR that weighed 160 LBS. There should be a minimum requirement for NFL players too or how about a max set at 270 LBS? Basically,300 lb guys should not be hitting 160 lb guys in any sport.

Fractured vertebrae. That was an awful hit. I hope he can make a comeback but this may have knocked him
out of the league.

It was difficult to watch. I hadn't thought about it previous to this, but I'm surprised more guys--especially running backs--don't get bent back like that more often.

For all of my Friday the 13th fans, the Johnny Knox injury reminded me of when Jason Voorhoes killed The Sheriff in Part 6....I'm sure we can find it on youtube somewhere, but I can't access youtube at work.
