I think the Bears defense is/has been overated all year. I constantly hear the defense complimented, with sometimes superlatives being thrown out there in describing their performace....I just don't see it.

There in the middle of the pack in most defensive stats, and in forced turnovers, something that this defense is supposed to be built around, they have what, 4 in the last five games.

Even in the games when the defense has played well, they have the tendency to break in the worst possible times.....Oakland, Bears cut the lead 18-13 in the 4th, have some momentum and what happens...the Raiders drive 75 yards down the field for a TD.

The Bears have a 10-0 lead over the Broncos with 2 1/2 minutes left. A great defense wins the game 10-0 or 10-7, not give up 13 points in 3 possesions.

Even yesterday, GB drives right down the field on the 1st possession, and when the Bears finally score to get some momentum the Bears defense give it right back. Then in the second half the Bears cut the lead again to 14-10 so what does the defense do, gives the momentum right back to GB.

And you can't blame the whole "well the defense was forced to be on the field yesterday." The Packers barely had the ball yesterday and still scored 4 td on their first seven possesions.

what in the hell...dude, the offense is a 3-and-out by design in the last 5 games. the defense can only do so much. no, they're not world beaters but they do a good job for what they have to do. yeah they break...the offense gives them no chance.

If the Bears defense job is to be average, then yes, the Bears do a good job for what they have to do.

Honest question, do you think the Bears have a great, good or average defense?

I hear guys like Waddle and the post game crew on comcast rave about this defense, great, excellent are adjectives they use. The Bears defense was great in '05 and great for about the first 12 weeks in '06. This years defense does not compare.

Great defenses win games like 14-3, 17-13, 16-6 like the Steelers have done this year, even 12-7 like the Jags have done. The Bears have yet to win a game like that this year. They had their chances, Raiders and Broncos are prime examples. Win a game 10-7, if you have a great defense then you win a game or two like that.

The 49ers, Steelers, Ravens have great defenses....the Bears defense is good...and they are probably closer to average.

Did anyone ever address why Enderle was inactive?

Because Lovie and the coaching staff was still delusional thinking that this was a playoff team. The rest of the us realized after the Dinver game that this team was garbage without Cutler.

Enderlee should have seen some action in the 4th quarter Sunday and he should get some playing time next week as well, But, he won't.

I am not necessarily an anti-Lovie guy like some people here, but its probably time for a change. The entire organization needs a new voice.

If he was even competent at this point he would have gotten a chance. It's clear he's not though.

That's not necessarily a bad thing though. NFL ready QB's don't last that long in the draft. The ones who end up there are the ones with potential but aren't ready yet.

My big concern though is that Enderle was a Martz pick and yet Martz seems to be gone. Hopefully the next guy can use him.

How can we be sure of that? Its pretty clear that Hanie was not the least bit competent yet he started 4 games in a row.

I mean, it would be very hard for Ederlee to play any worse than Hanie. We were told that Hanie is ready and that he was the backup for a reason. Either Lovie was just being stubborn again or they missed drastically on yet another personnel decision. Or maybe Martz was the only one who saw what Hanie is (or isn't) and put him at 3rd on the depth chart for a reason.

I think they are protecting Enderle. Obviously, I'm not sure but they seemed to do whatever they could to avoid even having Enderle have a chance at going in.

It was time for Hanie to show what he can do. You shouldn't expect a later QB pick like Enderle to be NFL ready his first year. It happens but that's rare.

It could very well be another bad personnel decision, especially since they let Martz decide it and then Martz never even got to coach him.

I don't disagree with you at all really. I'm just saying that at this point, you have nothing to lose playing Enderlee for a while. Script 12-15 plays and turn him loose for a couple of drives. If anything, you can only gain something by doing that. The Bears might be able to see if they should stick with the kid, or if he doesn't have it at all either.
