A lot of trade rumors going around about Garza. I've read Toronto, Detroit and now the Marlins are looking to acquire him. I think it would be a mistake for the Cubs to trade him. Garza's a young durable top of the rotation starter and they should sign him to a long term extension like the Sox did with John Danks.

I would be fine with either option.

I heard today on "Talking Baseball" with Hood & Levine that some of theses "prospects aren't that hot. I would hold onto Garza. I know the Cubs are "blowing up" this team, but don't charge New York Yankee prices for Pittsburgh Pirate baseball!

Hood, now there is a minor league baseball prospect I would rely on!

Bruce, at least hears info from other people.

Kevin Goldstein, who follows the minor leagues for a living, today said thought they could get 2 top prospects and 1 or 2 other throw in arms for Garza.

What really blows is that the Marlins have no money or you bet Ozzie would trade for his Friend Big Z

It all depends on what the trade nets. One Garza now pales in comparison to a trade that would net them 2 garzas 4 years from now.

My original statement was under the assumption you get a nice pull, if you'll pardon the expression, in a trade. I'm talking in between the Latos and Gonzalez deals.

They have some left over and anywhere Z is going we will be taking about 75% of that deal, so prospects are what matters.

Even if the Cubs pay 75% of the big dumbasses contract they still aren't getting anything back. No way a team risks giving a significant prospect for that fuckin head case.

I agree. His trade value is nil. The only hope they have is he pitches well in spring training or early in the season so they can dump him (and save a million or two). No way they get anything of value prospect wise in return. Can they land a bad contract in return? Sure. But a good prospect? Only if he pitches very well or if someone gets desperate as hell.

Okay.I really hope they do not trade Garza as he is about the only decent thing we have in the rotation right now. I would take a bag of practice balls for Z and each 75% of his salary just to get him off the roster

He's as good as gone. The price is going up. Theo knows that this season is a wash. Why waste a good pitcher on a suck team with high trade value?

I would ship him to Detroit for Turner and Crosby.

The fact that he did not have a Matt Garza moment/meltdown was the best for me.

Did you see his stats from last year? He was bad both in the bigs and in AAA. I would much prefer Jacob Turner or if I am trading with Toronto I would take D'Arnaud over Drabek.

He came up too soon. Fucked up his confidence. He's the goods my friend.
