Obviously the BEars need a backup quarterback who would perform better than my 3 year old nephew would.

Here's the irony. Who are the 2 top free agents who will be looking for a backup job in the offseason because nobody will want them as a starter?

Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton. (Although the Redskins may draft a qb and keep Rex as a starter for one more year until the kid is ready to play).

Both will remain with their respective teams next season.

I don't see Orton coming here to be a backup all next season. He'll find a team to compete for a starting job somewhere. Grossman will probably still be in Washington.

McCown would look good as a 3rd string. I don't know who the FA are for next year.

That's going to be something to keep an eye on. Backup quarterbacks are hard to find, and I've got to think Kyle Orton's in a spot where in Kansas City he could be the starting QB in training camp if he stays. He could also start in quite a few other NFL cities, too.

There's another QB that I'm also tempted. He's John Skelton, who actually did a pretty good job for the Arizona Cardinals replacing the injured and disappointing Kevin Kolb this past season. Not sure what his status is.

It's possible that he could become a backup, but Kyle Orton is probably good enough to start for a team next season.

I'm pretty sure Matt Flynn will be more highly regarded than Rex and probably a push with Orton. The thing with Orton and Flynn is that Orton is a proven starter in the league(albeit not a great one) and Flynn isn't going to sign somewhere without a chance to compete for the starting job.

Neither Rex or Orton will be going somewhere to be a backup. They may have to compete for a starting job but a place like Chicago is married to Jay Cutler for better or worse.

Jets
Seahawks
KC
San Francisco
Miami
Cleveland

All of those places would at least provide a chance to play besides injury.

I guess Orton has a chance to come back to Chicago if he is willing to accept a Kerry Collins type career but I think Orton wants one more shot to prove he can make it as a starter in this league.

No they wont.

There is no evidence to support that.

Why would you post that? A hunch?
