Good riddance! Go back to NFL Network...I think Brian Billick's looking for a co-host for "The Coaches Show".

Love that he spins it as resigning. He doesn't even have a contract.

You are correct, Bucky. Mike Martz's contract has expired...

Actually it doesn't expire for a couple more weeks.

Terrible move. Cutler and the offense will be set back 2 years by this move. Defense can't wait that long. Bears offense was 7th in the league when Cutlers got hurt. They averaged over 30 points their last 5 games before the injury and were clearly ready for liftoff.

if you fire angelo and let martz walk then smith is next to be fired, keeping smith and marinelli makes no sense.

That's the official word. He clearly wanted to come back but wasn't wanted. They wanted him to throw away his offense that was beginning to work.

Maybe Martz philosophical differences included him wanting to beat teams with better than .500 records.

They may as well clean house now. Why put it off for a year or 2 and force Cutler to learn his 13th offense.

I call FavreFan the "White Nas" but now you're starting to act like the "Black FavreFan".

Stop, you're better than this, Hov.

312, even though Lovie Smith has 2 more years left on his contract, the next General Manager would want to hire his own guy. I wouldn't be shocked one bit if Lovie's shown the door, depending on who becomes the next G.M.

Martz was offered a 1 year deal and declined that earlier this season, correct? Looks like this was 100% on him.

That took some prodding though. It wasn't all Martz the genuis at work. There were people telling him he wasn't a genuis and to fuck off.

No fucking way is Ginny McCasket going to eat 10 mildo and then come up with another 10 or so to hire another coach.

It also took the Bears losing 4-6 games over the last 2 seasons for Martz finally to get his head out of his ass and change things up a bit to suit the personnel that he had.

It's George McCaskey, and he's not B.S.-ing.

Doesn't that fall equally on the head coach for not telling Martz to change things sooner?

Offering Martz half of his salary and telling him to throw away his offense isn't a sign that you're wanted. This was the best Bears offense in 15 years.

It does. It also falls on the GM for not giving him the pieces to run his offense.

What I don't like about this is they will have the same problem as when they were forced to hire Martz. Who is going to want to come here?

I can't believe this. Is Lovie gone or is that the expectation they have once the new gm comes in?

That remains to be seen. Chicagobears.com says that Lovie's job is safe, but maybe not for long depending who becomes this team's next General Manager. I'd like to see the Bears give Jeremy Bates their undivided attention about the OC vacancy, given his connection to Jay Cutler.

Incorrect. If the Bears go to a traditional pro style offense, Jay & many other Bear offensive players have played in a pro style offense before, & it isn't all that difficult to understand.
It is Martz that set the Bears offense back 2 years. Jay Cutler is the happiest Man in the world right now.

Angelo was far more stubborn than Martz. The guy asked for the same stuff over and over but never got it.

They are all stubborn. They all made really bad choices along the way. There is no stubborn winner there.
