Page 84 of the Sun-times reports that Dollar Bill might put the Hawks up for sale.It also reports that the Hawks have lost over $ 191 million dollars over the past 10 years.

It would be an oddity to hear MJH talking Blackhawks hockey and how wonderful it is to watch all 41 home games on T.V.

If Wirtz does sell the team , I will be the first in line to buy season tickets and share them with the hockey guys on CSFMB.

Best News I've heard all week.. Crossing my fingers now hoping this rumor becomes reality and we see a new owner on the west side. There is always the spectre that a new owner could be worse when talking about a sale.. but come on! Who could be worse than Dollar Bill?

I get my hockey fix from my Center Ice package and going to see the Hounds, the local UHL team here in Hoffman Estates. The Wolves have never really interested me.

You're being rather presumptuous that God is a 'hockey fan' there Slappy.

I'd love to get back into hockey. Hockey in High Def looks the best off all the major sports in my opinion. Hockey is the best event to watch in person.

Seeing that the devil owns the Hawks one could only hope that there is a God. I think God owns the Bulls and the Sox in this town . Maybe he would like have a hockey team for shits and giggles.

Mackey makes tall coin .... Maybe he can buy them . 8)

If I were an old-time hockey fan, I would be so seriously pissed with the Blackhawks organization that I wouldn't be able to see straight. I remember growing up when I was 8-12 an watching all the pretty good Blackhawks games with Roenick, Chelious, Belfour, and the rest of the gang. I used to play NHL '94 religiously- I had practically the entire Hawks roster memorized (the back-up goalie was Ed Waite). And then... nothing. I missed out on that important stretch, those teenage years where you really solidify your sports preferences. And I'm pretty sure that an entire generation has been lost because of that. I've never, EVER heard kids 18-22 talk about hockey casually. At this point, I don't know what it would take for that to start again.

Yes, Bill Wirtz forced me to find a new team and I found the Red Wings ..Just as Stink found the Avalanche.

I was always a fan of some of the Red Wings players like Bob Probert , Joey Kocur , Steve Yzerman but always a Hawks fan first and foremost. But, like many, I got fed up and said untill Wirtz either sells the team or dies I'm staying away . And I have .

So when I was lucky enough to skate with the Wings during a practice last year they made me a Red Wing for life. Not to be a name dropper but my buddies and I sat and talked with Nick Lindstrom and Chris Draper and Chelios and they even said that coming into Chicago was not like it used to be and they were disappointed with what has happen to hockey in Chicago . Think about that for a second ... Guy's who hated to come into Chicago as a road team were upset how bad hockey has been treated in Chicago . Pretty sad to hear and they told us there is always room on the Wings bandwagon for a couple of Chicago douchebags like us.

That was the coolest thing I've 'EVER' gotten to do in my life .I came in all alone on Dominick Hasek and shot the puck 6 feet wide of the net and was called a pussy by the entire Wings team... .. NOW That's loomage !!

But isn't that the Hawks problem as it stands now...deep pockets, short arms? ;)

Please, let it be so. I want to care about hockey again.

Selling the Blackhawks will free up some assets for Wirtz. Then he can buy the Cubs. :)

Good story. I think that's a shame that the Blackhawks organization's done this but I completely understand. Sometimes you have to break ties when there's all give and no take--it's been so long since the Blackhawks have been competetive, and it's been too long since they've been WATCHABLE. When I was younger I used to like watching the Blackhawks, when they had Roenick and Belfour, even though I'm a Flyers fan, I enjoyed watching them.

This year's been rough watching hockey at all. I just try and watch the good games...but I can't root for your Wings, Slappy. They still haunt me.

A move to San Jose and a severe dislike for the hawks ownership drove me to becoming a Sharks fan. New Ownership would renew my interest in the home town squad.

Re: Wirtz buying the Cub.. hmmm.. I'm a cub fan and a hawks fan.. and I'll make that deal. :) The Cubs don't need good mgmt. They've got Wrigley. ;)

From the Rozner article:
Quote:
“If the union hired someone like Bob (Goodenow), who just says you’re lying whenever you say you’re losing money,’’ Wirtz said, “I’d put the team up for sale.’’

I say we have a new grass roots campaign to start!!

This all sounds to good to be true. I used to follow the Blackhawks as well . I enjoy the game of hockey and I invested my money into the Wolves and really enjoy the product and the way they treat the fans .

I just don't see Mr. Wirtz and his ego selling the Hawks to anyone. The man is a Billionarie many times over and even if the Hawks are loosing $191 million dollars over the years , I'm sure it's a tax right off for him some place.

Oh Yeah , this could BE fun .. We could have Harry do the Almanac segment in between periods and have Jurko vs Harry insted of having the "HOT CHICK" shooting the puck and have promotions like Allen Brothers night in where the first 5, 000 people get a Lamb shank and if the Hawks score 3 goals they get a sausage patty pizza from Harry's favorite pizza joint.

I'd rather have Dollar Bill keep the squad. Hockey sucks on T.V. by the way .Who cares if they don't show Hawks games on T.V. ...
