This girl and a friend went to his place at 330am in the morning, eventually passed out, woke up with Starlin allegedly assaulting her, a friend took her home then she wait 12 hours to go to the hospital? This was all back in September as well so took some time for this all to come to light as well.

This is not good. As sketchy as the details are it wont matter, the kind of stigma that comes with this kind of accusation is not easily shaken.

Dan, I think 12 hours would be relatively quick for most assault victims.

Given it took victims in the Penn State case more than ten years to come forward, I'd say 12 hours is an awfully quick time frame in which to report the assault.

If guilty, he could not only go to jail, he could lose his ability to have a visa to work in the United States. He's not a U.S citizen. So even when he gets out of jail, he's done in MLB.

i think there is almost zero chance at castro being charged or convicted of this for 2 reasons..he is very popular and has enough cash to hire ed genson... i hope you are right and this woman is crazy/greedy and not a legit victim...but part of me believes this could all be very true...12 hours seems appropriate amount of time to replay the night in your head and contact the police if you were the woman assaulted after drinking all night... i imagine that this was kept quiet until toxicology tests were taken and the results are back and there was no drugs in her system to suggested he doped her. it is probably not a real strong case but castro will probably pay her some hush money and this will go away.

I cannot remember the last time a professional athlete was actually convicted of rape during his playing days.

Baseball reference said he only made $440k last year. After taxes and his high living style, he doesn't have much. So no, he doesn't have enough to pay her off. Nor does he have a lot for a big time lawyer unless the Cubs help him. He sure as hell didn't have any money before he got to the Cubs.

Do you know how much good lawyer cost? Do you know what it will take to pay her off? He also had a nice downtown condo and it seems like lived it up pretty well while he was here. He's not wealthy enough to pay a lawyer and buy her off.

But, like is said, the Cubs will probably help him.

No chance he gets convicted and they probably won't bring charges. It will make things a little uncomfortable for him for a while, especially if he doesn't come back to chicago before spring training for police questioning. agreed, i don't see charges being filed.... last year a friend of mine met some broad at a bar took her home banged her..called her few days later and went to her house banged her again... she starts blowing his phone up 5/6 times a day and he ignores her for 2 weeks...then 2 detectives show up at his house and take him in for questioning for rape/sexual assault that happened 3 weeks ago...turns out no charges filed..this woman has accused 4 different guys with this over the last 2 years,she is just crazy.

He will more than likely escape this with nothing more than a scare but it would be wise for the Cubs to develop his character. Spending your late teens in another country in minor league baseball is probably going to teach you a ton of bad off the field habits. Then becoming super successful in an organization that had zero accountability, discipline or structure only makes things worse. Get this kid some good people to be around. Keep him away from party boy Soriano.
