Sounds like Starlin thought he was getting a threesome and shit went wrong.

Not all sexual assaults are violent and loud. Just saying it could happen with people in another room not knowing.

Maybe I've been doing it wrong all these years.

Haven't read the whole thread because I got too much to do, but two things:
1) The only jersey I own of a current Cub now that Zambrano's gone is Starlin Castro. And my friends already think of me as the somewhat creepy guy in the group. God dammit.
2) Starlin Castro is still scheduled to appear at the Convention next week. Wonder what kind of response he'll get?

I've got a question. Can he be denied a visa if he's just charged of this crime? Or be banned from working here until the case is over and he's found not guilty?

I know it's innocent until proven guilty but I'm not sure it's the same with non citizens. I'm not sure that he gets granted a visa with a felony charge pending. Anybody know?

Denied or even revoked, I believe the prosecutor would request such at the arraignment hearing. SOP to be required to give up any sort of U.S. issued international travel papers once arraigned on a charge.

Tribune reporters

3:21 p.m. CST, January 6, 2012
Responding to a WBBM-AM 780 report that Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro has been accused of sexual assault, the team and Castro’s attorney responded with statements defending the player.

“We are aware that a police report was filed regarding an incident involving Starlin, but we have received limited information,” the team said in a statement. “While this is something we take very seriously, there is not enough information to make any further comment or take action at this time. We are hopeful when the facts are brought to light, Starlin will be cleared of any wrongdoing.”

The player’s attorneys, Jay K. Reisinger and Michael P. Gillespie, also released a statement Friday which read: “We are aware of certain allegations that have been made against our client, Starlin Castro. We have thoroughly investigated this matter, and we are confident these allegations are baseless. Given the sensitive nature of this matter, we cannot comment any further.”

The woman, whom a source said is 22 years old, accused Castro of assaulting her at his apartment in September, according to a police report provided to the Tribune.

Police were notified and began an investigation, the report states.

Castro left for his home in the Dominican Republic by the time the police were made aware of the allegations. No charges or arrest warrants have yet been filed.

Castro’s agent, Paul Kinzer, did not return phone calls.

Castro is scheduled to return next week for the Cubs Convention as the main attraction in the annual fan fest, which begins Jan. 13.

Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer said the allegations were "something we take very seriously" but declined to comment on the incident while the police investigation continues. He added the team has spoken with Castro's agents and is "hopeful that when the facts are brought to light that Starlin will be cleared of any wrongdoing."

"We expect our players to be at the highest level of respect on the field, off the field, in the community," Hoyer said. "Being a member of the Cubs carries with it a very high standard of conduct and responsibility, and while we cannot address this particular matter at this time, we do want to emphasize the organization's commitment to being respectful members in the community and being positive examples for our great fans."

Asked whether he's concerned the investigation might affect Castro's return for spring training, Hoyer declined to comment.

"To comment on any part of this would be very inappropriate," he said.

Hoyer said the "expectation is he'll be here for the Cubs Convention."

Rape or Not Rape:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jincey-lu ... 19484.html

Quote:
We had sloppy sex and then fell asleep.

In the middle of the night, I woke up, and he was on top of me, forcing his penis inside me with no condom. I panicked and said, "What are you doing? Don't do that!"

He ignored me and continued. I didn't know what to do, how to respond. I couldn't really understand what was happening, and I was freaked out.

"Please stop," I pleaded with him. He looked at me in a sinister way, and he ejaculated. I saw his face; it was clear that my fear had excited him enough to finish off.

He rolled off me and moved to the edge of the bed without a word. I laid beside him, confused and worried. I found myself thinking, "This didn't happen. He's drunk. He didn't know what he was doing."

At the same time, other thoughts came in direct conflict: "What if I get pregnant? What if he has AIDS? I told him 'no,' so why did he do this? We already had sex, so why didn't he just wake me up?"

Instead of kicking his ass, screaming for his roommate, or leaving, I just lay there paralyzed.

In the morning, I felt a desperate need to make things all right, to erase what had happened the night before. I gave him a blowjob, and then I gathered my things to leave.

"I'm going to shower," he said. "You can show yourself out."

What's the difference between Eddy Curry and Starlin Castro?

Eddy Curry rapes limo drivers.

Frank squanders his "A" material on the Cubs folder and then has nothing left for the Sox but "Kenny's team could win anywhere from 0 to 162 games."

I hope not. It seems, though, that a few Cubs fans here might be Penn State fans.

While I'll condemn that behavior as soon as I see it, there's a difference between not rushing to conclusions and circling the wagons.

I don't have any shame in rushing to judgment. I'm 99% right in my career of doing so. Castro raped her. I'll say it with no hesitation. I will not be shouted down by these god damn Cubs fans that are only concerned about their short stop going to jail and being kicked out of the country.

JORR and Tall Midget - As someone who is repulsed by the Penn State situation, I have to ask you - you truly see these scenarios as the same?

In one case, we have a mountain of legal evidence in the form of a grand jury report, that children had been molested for decades, and that an orchestrated cover-up was involved at very high levels.

In the other case, we have a vague report of a he-said she-said situation where a grown woman voluntarily went to a drunk celebrity's apartment at 3am after meeting him at a bar.

And you question someone's sense of morality if they react differently to those situations? Interested to hear that explained a bit further...

Of course not. The priority for Penn State fans was their defense and the priority for Cub fans is their offense.

Despite the fact that I think he's extremely overrated, I hope this isn't true.

I wonder how people are going to fit the word "rape" into his name now, like they do w/ Ben Rapelisberger.

Seriously, I certainly don't think it's exactly the same as the Penn State thing, but I do think the fan is eager to believe it isn't true because he's the franchise shortstop just like Penn State people didn't want to believe that was true because that guy was the architect of "Linebacker U".

Proper steps for the Cubs.

1. I saw it posted here that somebody from the Cubs said they expect Castro to be at the Cubs convention. Wrong. The images on the news of the slack-jawed Cubs fans cheering him is not something you want at a time like this. Ironically, it will be mostly women doing so - the blue hairs and the Wrigleyville sluts will be the loudest cheers. The media will get to him. He's a young dumb kid. He'll say something that might incriminate himself further. Theo needs to get on this. He has to tell Castro not to attend the Cubs convention.

2. Since he's their only star and most marketable player, the Cubs certainly have him as part of their marketing campaign this year. Those things are already done. They need to be scrapped. Take him off the pocket schedule and commercials. Take him off the season tickets if they haven't been delivered. Cancel the Castro bobble head day. Distance yourself from him. He's toxic.

3. Theo needs to tell his dumb ass players not to stick up for him. The team response should be "I have no comment, it's being investigated by authorities."

4. Tell him not to speak to the media at all. His lawyers are telling him that I'm sure, but the Cubs need to reinforse it.

He's innocent till proven guilty, but it wouldn't be the worst idea to kind of keep a low profile till this blows over.
