Due to the last draft, it would be difficult to use the theory of Simpson being a cheap sign. This was another Wilken reach, like Colvin. I'm not ready to fire him. I agree. Theo and Jed are going to do whatever the hell they want to do regardless of whether Wilkin is on payroll or not. He is serving some alternative purpose at the time whether that be to scout something specific, to appease someone or not make their owner look stupid for extending him before they arrived. Again, they are going to do what they do and he won't get in the way.

Cubs should say they are still in on him to run up the price. It helps the Cubs the more another team has to pay for him because it handcuffs that team more in the future.
