"Cubs execs Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer are alarmed by the lack of minor league talent in their own system, so trading Garza might appeal to them. The Yankees, one possible suitor for the right-hander, have had concerns about Garza’s ability to handle New York in the past, Rosenthal reports."

I'd be more alarmed if there was any talent in the minor league system. Fucking Hendry.....the gift that just keeps on giving.

I can't believe they haven't shit canned Tim Wilken yet. He's done more damage to the organization than the Big Dumbass and they paid $15M to get rid of him.

Wilken upgraded the talents level from 1 to 3 on a 10 Scale!

Yet, knowing the organization and lack of talent, he goes out on a limb and takes Hayden Simpson.

I said it then, he can sink or swim with this kid!

Glug glug glug

The best picks Toronto had was when Wilkin was a crosschecker which means he didn't have final say. He's had final say with the Cubs and has yet to draft an impact player in 5 years. Theo and co. have their own way and it does not include Wilkin. He's as good as gone as soon as figure out how to get rid of him.

Rosenthal with another breaking story. Theo and Jed realize the Cubs have shit in the farm system, and might trade Garza. Thanks Captain Obvious B. News.

Due to the last draft, it would be difficult to use the theory of Simpson being a cheap sign. This was another Wilken reach, like Colvin. I'm not ready to fire him. There are some decent examples of his success. Some, but no real studs. If you'll pardon the expression. But it does seem like he's a little overrated.

From Ken Rosenthal at 12:13 AM #Cubs could deal Colvin to Rockies pending a physical. Rizzo done. Still in on Fielder #MLB #FieldertoCubs

I agree. Theo and Jed are going to do whatever the hell they want to do regardless of whether Wilkin is on payroll or not. He is serving some alternative purpose at the time whether that be to scout something specific, to appease someone or not make their owner look stupid for extending him before they arrived. Again, they are going to do what they do and he won't get in the way.

I just think Ricketts is a guy who hates to fire anyone.

Why the hell is he saying the Cubs are still in on Fielder when they just traded for Rizzo?

Boras is using him for leverage with the Nats, Mariners, etc. which is ridiculous.

He didn't really say that. I thought the thing about Colvin possibly being traded by the Cubs on Jan 6th would give it away. When I look at it again, it's slightly misleading. Oh, and Rosenthal really doesn't like it when you call him on it.

Cubs should say they are still in on him to run up the price. It helps the Cubs the more another team has to pay for him because it handcuffs that team more in the future.

Is it ridiculous? Maybe a little tit for tat with Boras. Here scott, I'll help you drive up the price on Fielder, just work with me on a signing later...
