Season one in my area. The best television show ever. A lot of critics agree. Very real and very dark. Most importantly its not dumbed down.

Thanks for the heads up.

Best show of all time. Should be required viewing for everyone.

I never got into that show. I guess I need to give it a shot. My sons college class showed season 1 of The Wire. They all loved it.

I'm trying to find the complete collection online. This show is great.

It would also be appreciated if this section could stay storyline spoiler free. I'm only through the first eight episodes. Thanks. :D

I will be flying solo next weekend. Seriously considering getting Season 1 from
Blockbuster and doing a marathon to see if the series stands up to all the hype.

you will never ba able to watch regular prime time cop shows again. Its comparable to NY PD Blue/ Hillstreet blues/ Homocide/ Cops all combined with an HBO production . Its not glamourous. Its not Fun. Its a real a show as there is.

Watched the first 3 episodes this weekend and it was pretty good. I will be
checking a few more out to at the very minimum get through the first season.
After that I am anticipating being hooked enough to watch the entire series.
Good stuff.

I just finished Season 4. This show is AWESOME! It has become one of my top five favorite shows of all time in a matter of months.

along with "homicide" this show will go down as one of the most underrated great shows of all time. no doubt in my mind.

it was intricate, dramatic, the characters were well drawn and the writing was superb.

Without getting to deep, it has made me re-think my personal thoughts on many things. When a show not only entertains me, but makes me use my little numskull brain. In Borat voice, "Great Success!"

I recently read David Simon's Homicide: A Year in the Killing Streets, and The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Inner-City Neighborhood, and strongly recommend both (I personally prefer the former; the latter is quite depressing!). It's really fascinating to see the real stories a lot of this stuff is based on.

Fun fact: the story that opens the series, of 'Snot Boogie' repeatedly stealing money from the weekly dice game and eventually being shot to death for it, is a true story: right down to a witness explaining that they kept letting him play because it's a free country.

I believe Simon's new series is coming out soon. It's based in New Orleans post-Katrina I think. Looking forward to it.

I've started watching this again. I know I've seen too many episodes in a row, as I said "come on shitbird" when I let my dog out this morning. Also, does anyone else find it weird that Daniels is married to his mom? I always thought they ignored that point.

Sunday nights they play 2 episodes on the 101 network on Direct TV. Right now, it's the middle of season 2.

That's how I got started. Everyone had been telling me to watch it for years, and the first season was On Demand. I think I watched the first season in two days. I bought the series the next day. Outstanding.

Any Jimmy McNulty (Mcnutty to Omar) fans? He's my fav TV cop of all time. The more fucked up his life is, the more fun he is to watch. And he's a brit to boot.

I've had a difficult time realizing I was Jimmy McNulty before the character existed. At least with the shit stirring. Without a gun.

I believe you are referring to the character "Bubbles". He is the one that calls him McNutty.

Recently finished watching the series. Awesome stuff. I bumped this today because one of the themes I seem to remember is police stats. It's pretty easy to fake the stats of everything except murder.

From today's Suntimes.
With murders up 35%, Supt. McCarthy shakes up Chicago police brass
With Chicago suffering a 35 percent spike in murders this year, police Supt. Garry McCarthy announced a reshuffling of his command staff Friday, replacing commanders in five of the city’s 23 districts...

...But department records also show that, through March 18, overall crime has dropped 10 percent throughout the city compared to the same period in 2011....

I've been sick, and recently had the DVD's returned. I decided to do a little marathon this weekend. This show never gets old.

Agree Drop. Usually once or twice a year, I'll run through The Wire, Sopranos, and Entourage, start to fininsh. I just ran through Sons of Anarchy this past month. I had never watched that, but I was hooked instantly, another solid watch.
