You forgot the great Dave Sappelt. He'll be on this team probably in place of Campana.

How has Dewitt avoided the axe so far? I see some more changes coming.

Soriano may go however once all hatred and expectations of and for him are put aside he is the only guy who will put up any sort of power or rbi numbers on this team right now for sure. As bad as he may look at some times you at least know what he will probably put up which can not be said for Stewert, Soto or LaHair. He is also probably not bringing you anything back in a trade which brings me to .....

Byrd.... I think Theo will sit on him until an injury occurs or a glaring hole opens up in a contenders outfield and then he can get something decent in return. Hopefully this occurs in or before spring training so Jackson can come up ASAP. He will be gone no later than the deadline though.

I realize Soto is not the biggest butcher behind the plate and that his offensive numbers are decent when healthy but I just don't like him.

As far as the pitchers I really hope that Garza trade nets 3 big Tiger prospects. Marmol needs to go as well. He serves no purpose on this team and will be even worse, super expensive or gone all together by the time this team needs a closer.

I really hope I'm wrong, but Jackson is not ready. Another half year, at least, in the minors would serve him well. Especially if he's going to come up without a regular spot. The report on him is that he has a great approach, but there's a hole in his swing. That's why he has all the strikeouts. Sound familiar? We don't need to see another prospect ruined.

That said, I would still be up for trading Byrd. I think they could get some nice value back for someone who has zero role in the future. Dewitt has to be hiding in the corner of the clubhouse behind a rat the size of pick. Otherwise, I'm sure he'd be gone.

Every player is different. Some guys respond best to learning at the big league level. Others get demoralized and their career never reaches even the lowest expectations (Pie, Patterson to an extent)

I'll trust Theo/Hoyer and the coaches they have in place to figure out what is best.

I tend to want him on the AAA roster to continue to build confidence.

do you think pie or patterson would be a different player today with more minor league at bats under their belt?..i don't..i think you can either do it or you can't..all hitters are going to have to make adjustments at the big league level ..patterson has a nice career going..over a decade in the bigs and a good 4th outfielder not a great hitter but decent with glove..he was just never as good as hendry and some fans thought..and the pitching is better in the a.l...pie will have pretty much same career as c.p....again he is just a guy.

Cubs sign Soto to avoid arbitration
The Cubs avoided arbitration with catcher Geovany Soto by agreeing to a $4.3 million contract before salary figures were exchanged Tuesday, according to CBS Sports.

Soto made $3 million last season.

The Cubs have six other cases pending, including pitchers Matt Garza, Randy Wells and Chris Volstad and infielders Blake DeWitt, Ian Stewart and Jeff Baker.
