Zack did this on the B&B show today. He's doing updates. B&B are doing their show, bashing the Bears over the GM hunt. Zack can't resist. It kills him to hear Bears bashing. So he jumps on with them to defend the Bears and their GM search. You can tell he's getting a lot of Bears propaganda from people with the Bears, maybe Teddy himself, and Zack has been ordered to put this stuff out to the public. It's so obvious.

I do agree that someone at the Bears (Scott Hagel!) has spoken to him about 'defending' the Bears on a daily basis and if Zach were to lose his WBBM/WSCR gig that no doubt Hagel find shim another job somewhere in the NFL, the Bears or ESPN.

I heard this. As usual, Hub was right & Zach was wrong. You can tell that guys like Hub & Berns think Zach is a complete idiot & it is all they can do to maintain their composure when listening to Zacks Bears ass licking.

IIRC, in the late 80s and early-to-mid 90s when he'd do Bears post-game shows on the radio, Hub used to be an apologist just like Zach.

Exactly. When Hub lost his Bears gig, he started looking for the negative all the time. Steve Stone gets accused of this all the time, but he was negative when he worked for the team. That's why he lost the job. Boers & bernstein used to sneer at Hub the way they do with Zaidman now too.

don't forget he and North were at all out war with each other when the Bears used to buy time on the Score for the coach's show. The Bears wouldn't even let the Score use tape from the show.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers that. Remember back in '01, '02 or thereabouts when Hub drew the ire of B&B so much that they once spent nearly an entire show making fun of him? Now, of course, since he's part of their show they constantly stroke him. Hub is a smarmy, disingenuous little weasel of the highest order.

Hub is still the best football guy on tv or radio in Chicago, & it isn't close, & he's a damn good radio show host too.

There is a huge difference between Hub and ZZ being Bears apologist. Other than PFW, Bears was Hub's only gig. He wasn't a radio guy and "Football insider" who provided his insight for pay like ZZ does.

Simple difference explained using hte world of politics.

Hub: Press Secretary for President during multiple terms. Would interview Prez and protect him if he could.

ZZ: Press Secretary for President. Also works at CNN where he is brought in as an political "expert" to comment on the happenings in the administration that he works for.

In layman's terms. It would be like if MSNBC paid Jay Carney to work for them and provide expert opinion on the WH.

Hub has gotten over some of his bitterness, and is good when he gets beyond it, still sense the burn.

He did spend a lot of years of defending the MCFamily way of business.
