There's one giant problem I had with back to the future 2: how did old biff manage to return to the "original" 2015 after he had given young biff the gray's sports almanac?! wouldn''t he return to the future of "biff's 1985"?

WASN'T THE WHOLE POINT OF HIS GOING BACK TO 1955 TO GIVE HIMSELF THE ALMANAC WAS SO WHEN HE CAME BACK HE WAS FILTHY RICH!?!?!? HELLO???? MCFLY?!?!

now this IS a movie and you have to suspend disbelief, and as such i won't comment on how old biff would be returning to a world where he technically wouldn't exist, which means he'd create some sort of a dimension/reality-destroying paradox wherein once he left 1955 he could never exist again.... but let's go with the movie logic. how was he able to return to the original 2015 when everyone else ended up in "biff's" post-1955?

i never got that one. it has always really bothered me.

1955 Biff took a while to act on the almanac thus giving him enough time to return to 2015. If there was a polaroid of him he would have been only slightly fading while he returned to 2015.

What does it show in 2015 after it shows the Old Biff comes back? Perhaps it is all different from when he left. Is there any proof its not?

This might be the reason. Biff didnt starting gambling until 1958. From 1955 to 1958 the future was still on track. It wasnt until Biff finally started gambling that the alternate time line really started in earnest. That could also explain why Old Biff looks so rough when he gets back to 2015, he is clutching his chest like he is having a grabber, perhaps that is because he is arriving in a location where he is slowly being erased from time.

From Futurepedia

While Doc is rescuing Jennifer and Marty goes walking about looking at his future residence, the Biff of 2015 has stolen the DeLorean and travels to some point in time. Just before Marty and Doc return with Jennifer, Biff apparently suffers a heart attack when exiting the DeLorean (a deleted scene showed him vanishing).

Deleted footage

In scenes deleted from the film, Biff Tannen of 2015 fades out of existence (much like Marty was in the original movie when interfering with his parents' meeting) once arriving in the future, having been erased from existence in that time period. This can be explained for two different reasons. First, these events created a time paradox. Having created an alternate timeline by giving his younger self the almanac, the old Biff from 2015 no longer existed, once 2015A became part of the 1985A timeline. Another possibility is that Lorraine, in 1996 of the alternate timeline, shot and killed Biff. These events are never depicted in the trilogy, although Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale suggest this theory as a way of explaining Biff's "disappearance."[1]

The scene is notable in that Biff started to fade out as Marty and Doc Brown flew off in the DeLorean and only disappeared completely after the sound of the "time burst" is heard. Presumably, had Marty and/or Doc discovered Biff's cane head in the time machine, which Biff broke off when he exited the car, they could have aborted the trip to 1985 and restored the timeline. Had this occurred, Biff would have faded back into existence, much as Marty did in Part I, after his father kissed his mother

Hilldale was still nice. It would have been a shithole unless something else drastic happened in between 1985 and 2015...

Hilldale wasnt nice in 2015, the cops that dropped off 1985 Jennifer at the house were scared to be there after dark.

You're right. I am ashamed...

Still, it would have been a lot worse. In '85, it looked like a scene from Mad Max...

It might have gotten better. Biff didnt seem to be too thrifty with his money and the almanac only ran to 2000. Who is to say that his investments would have kept paying out, Biff was about as smart as a screen door on a battleship. It is possible that he was broke by 2010 and by 2015 Mayor Goldie Wilson Jr was turning things around as best he could. YES WE CAN!

Watching BTTF 2 today on HBO and I noticed that when they are in the alternate 1985 and looking at the newspapers of when his father was killed and Doc was committed, the papers have a story about Nixon running for a 5th term. My question is if politics can change so drastically in alternate 1985, why wouldnt the sports results also change. The almanac was from the regular timeline, so if Nixon actually ran for office 5 times (defying the constitiution) are you telling me that sports was the only thing that wasnt affected? Bullshit I say, that almanac would have been worthless after a couple of years.

What if Doc didn't open the letter from Marty?

Because they changed it back, so the book was worth a lot

Plus you only need about a month to make a fortune with that book
