yes, we agree; the movie IS totally soulless and with this kind of material, it just begs for something more than an ape vs. humans arcade game affair.

So I'm watching this morning, and it occurs to me.

They totally miscast Ceasar. Instead of Gollum in a CGI suit, they should have cast Travis The Score Chimp. As an added bonus, he probably would have bitten James Franco's face off.

Saw it last night, thought it was pretty good. I assume a sequal is coming since this one really didn't deliver the "rise of the apes" as promised in the title. It looks like a virus from that wonder drug is going to wipe out most of the humans which will level the playing field in the eventual war vs the primates which is a cool way of theorizing how the apes are able to beat teh vastly superior numbers of humans.

I also liked the reference to the spaceship from the original movie, that was pretty cool.
