Listening to the Hater Wed that Larry drubbed out, during that segment MAc talking about how he is on Twitter now and Larry was 'afraid to follow' the guy because "was afraid it was not really Mac"

While Larry is a huge offender of this action, every peon at the Score is so aware of giving anyone any promotion of any kind it really shows how small minded they all are.

The fear that someone might get trump their faint shining star really shows in almost everyones comments. From Bernstein to Larry to Spiegs, to pretty much every producer.

Ironic that the guys that pull in the big checks never care and just say what the feel and do, not holding back worried that the local bar they attend is getting a freebie or back in the day "Tonys Deli" was serving it up.

The obvious fear that all these guys live by on the radio is what makes them less than real.

They thrive on the idea of creating a "community", but I guess you need to pay to get in?

Example of a great guy to follow is Mens Humor on Twitter. Pretty damn funny all day.Would ad great radio content and it's free, but god knows they would be scared to give that guy any pub....

Just give Larry his own section so you have a place to put all your posts.

Like I said, wasnt all Larry, he just displayed a blatant example of it, all guilty of it

'had some pizza tonight"
"from where?"
" don't want to say....because, ya know"
"Just say it...."
"I don't know"
"I will say it later"

Another fine example recently from Joe O'Knight

The indiscriminate name dropping of establishments patronized is part of what made the Score the Score. To his credit it was how North became huge because a mention or two would drive business, and a word to a proprietor would be worthwhile to all concerned.

Unlike television/movies where some are recognized on sight, and there may be some trepidation with fame (or followers/stalkers), they're radio people and have faces for radio. So very few will recognize them on sight (or care). More to the point, if you don't want the notoriety or the free appetizer or the complimentary shot of top shelf, be a true professional and speak/converse about your personal life in complete generalities.

"Where did you get your pizza from?"

"My regular place, excellent as usual! We ought to stop in after a show."

Or

"I was at a favorite watering hole watching the game"

"Which one?"

"Not five minutes from here/the house."

Other than having a signed 8x10 on the wall, who really knows or cares?

Hosts were told by management not to mention businesses unless they advertise on the station.

The blatant promotion of businesses for free stuff by radio personalities was the subject of an IRS crackdown (its unreported income) in the late 90s. The Score used to be horrible about this (every host had several "my guys") but it was all across the dials including guys like Dahl.

You would have though Tino Antonnacci and Basta Pasta were sponsors back in the day with the amount of publicity they got from the Score hosts

Hope the Cowley / Goff flock of producers and interns don't needed to claim income from when they troll Twitter for free Monday night football grub.

i'm afraid to follow larry on twitter. i know if i say the wrong thing that he'll hit me.... i'll never be able to ride in an elevator again without the all-pervasive fear that he could be right behind me (seriously, try looking behind you whilst looking straight down; it's impossible to do) and therefore i'm always one second away from my inevitable beatdown.

if there isn't some score producer there to hold him back, good god, we have no idea what this man is capable of. i commend all of laurence's followers for being able to 100% control themselves, cuz they're on a slippery slope where one misstep can spell certain doom. THAT = SHOOK
