They were predicting the buses would be delayed. They were pretty much on time. I also saw the plows go up and down Ackman a few times as well as our street.

Yep

Minus the "helping the hubby outside", I did all of that too.

The streets were better than the expressway. I blame my kids. They were pissed when the snow melted and they wished for this. I was fine with the cold weather. It's time for a little tough love.

It started out here around 11. The trucks were out on the roads keeping them salted and plowed. They weren't the greatest but at least decent enough and people weren't driving too nuts out here. Took Tora to go sledding as soon as she got home and a car ride that normally takes 2-4 minutes took about 12 to get over to the hill.

I remember there being a cool park for sledding in CL. Veterans acres I believe it was called.

Yes, that is a nice park. That's on the far north end of CL. We are on the southside. There is a park behind HRH's school that has a really nice hill so we just went there....the kids were all taking turns going down the hill and making sure they were out of the ways of the other ones.

PANIC!!! 3" OF SNOW TODAY! THE WEATHER IS YELLING AT US AGAIN!!!

Jeez...the last time this big a deal was made over 3" was when Kid Cario has his pants off.
What?

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 PM CST THIS EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHICAGO HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 PM CST THIS EVENING. THE LAKE EFFECT SNOW WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* TIMING... SNOW WILL DEVELOP EARLY THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO EARLY THIS EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS... TOTAL SNOWFALL OF GENERALLY 1 TO 3 INCHES IS EXPECTED BY EARLY EVENING... WITH LOCALLY HEAVIER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE NEAR THE LAKE AND INTO SOUTHEASTERN COOK AND FAR EASTERN WILL COUNTIES WHERE SOME LAKE ENHANCEMENT TO THE SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED LATE THIS AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS... GREATLY REDUCED VISIBILITIES AND ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL WILL LIKELY RESULT IN HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY THIS EVENING. PERSONS SHOULD PLAN TO ALLOW EXTRA TIME FOR THE AFTERNOON COMMUTE OR CONSIDER TAKING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO AVOID LONG DELAYS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES... AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

Coming down pretty good here just over the northern border right now, but like Doug probably
expecting just an inch or two at the most.

Calling for 3-4 inches just over the northern border here. Looks like it is going to be a sloppy
mess more than a real snowfall for us.

Hawks game tonight - I suppose the drive home will suck.

Be sure to bring:
  • Blankets (consider also bringing a sleeping bag)
  • A warm coat
  • Mittens or gloves
  • A warm hat (not a baseball cap)
  • Water-resistant boots
  • First aid kit
  • Any medications you may be taking
  • A battery or hand crank powered NOAA weather radio
  • Extra batteries
  • Flashlight
  • Canned food and a can opener
  • Bottled water - at least one gallon
  • Extra warm clothing - an extra sweater or sweatshirt and an extra pair of jeans
  • Jumper cables
  • Windshield scraper
  • Road flares or portable hazard lights
  • A bag of sand or kitty litter
  • At least five gallons of gasoline in a separate container, stored in the trunk
  • A small hand shovel
  • A knife
  • A roll of toilet paper
  • A small flask of whisky or gin
  • A road map
  • A compass
  • Matches or a lighter
  • A cell phone charger that can plug into your car's accessory adapter

Also be sure to complete this simple checklist of tips before heading to the game:
  • Have your mechanic give your car a check-up looking for loose belts and hoses. All fluids should be topped off. Tires should be inspected for signs of wear and replaced where appropriate.
  • See your primary care physician to ensure you are in decent health. Should any signs of illness appear, think about postponing your travels until more favorable climate conditions appear.
  • Check television, radio, and internet reports of any delay or cancellation of the game. Many major sporting events are cancelled due to inclement weather.
  • Call a loved one and relay your itinerary. Tell them you'll be checking in with them at various points along your journey. Email them a map of your planned route so that they can provide this information to emergency personnel should any accidents occur.
  • Fill your car's gasoline tank to completely full before beginning your trek.

I hope you enjoy the game!
