My list is pretty short and I have probably seen a lot fewer shows than most but:

Eddie Vedder

Scott Weiland

Bob Dylan -- before I take a lot of shit for this one... you know what you are in for with Dylan from
the get go. Beautiful voice? Depends on what you like. The night I saw him, it was about as good a
Dylan as I could have ever hoped for. He belted it out and every song was really good. For a 70 year
old guy to play for 90 minutes like that was incredible. I was about 6 rows from the stage and you could
see all the sweat pouring off of his cowboy hat the last 30 minutes of the show.

Sparky, I would agree. I didn't list them in order of best to worst, it was just a list. I am a little slower
than usual today. Sorry about that.

I just figured from what you've written here that Dylan is clearly your favorite.

I never saw him live. Love his music though.

Dylan is a favorite but a real crap shoot to see him live. Obviously past his prime and according to most
he never had a prime as a singer. As a performer and songwriter he is fantastic though. I look forward
to picking up the 4cd set of covers from Amnesty International sometime today and running through it.

Saw Weiland just after Purple dropped and before he got all strung out I think. He was pretty damn dynamic
and they had a nice set list between that album and Core.

Vedder is a love him or hate him guy. I love him. I have only seem him once in concert but have an awful lot of
his live stuff and that blows the studio stuff away everytime. Puts on a good show and interacts with the crowd
quite a bit which is nice.

Kenny Rogers...at wrigley field!!

Most if not all of the concerts I have been to have featured singers that would not sound good with the music turned off. Aaron Barrett of Reel Big Fish probably has the best voice of any band I have ever seen and that is not saying much. If you factor in the whole stage presence and commanding the show thing then I would probably have to go with Jim Lindberg....He was going to sing Fuck Authority very loudly and the audience was going to like it.

Robin Zander, his voice holds up incredibly well in a live setting.

For once I can post a picture of this guy in a best <insert musical talent> thread and not be joking about it...

If all he ever did was Desperado, he would still take the top spot for me.

even tho she likely doesn't have anywhere near "the pipes" that your lot have, i'm to go with ol girl kayo from the polysics

i'm fortunate that i was able to catch her last proper tour with the band @ the doubledoor in feb 2010 as she was leaving the band to "do more womanly things that a musician cannot do" such as raise a family and be a stay at home mother... man those japanese dudes keep the pimphand strong.

anyways, she just kind of like, stood behind her keyboard and looked like a total robot as she slammed out melodies and did a bunch of vocals through a vocoder (part of their self-avowed "technicolour pogo punk" sound) and, evne tho there were sunglasses present, it sure seemed like she stared rather menacingly for a small and otherwise unthreatening-seeming woman of her stature.

just recently i ended up on pitchfork.com and i'm like "i wonder what richdork thinks about these guys" and the official consensus is that they WERE hipster as fuck, but they kind of fell off over time. indeed, a lot of their stuff is kinda eh... but when they play live and string together their good stuff, such as the song you can hear if you click that picture up there, well fuckin yeah. i'm glad i caught some northwestern student playing them on WNUR a few years ago, as i was able to IM the wnurdj aim account and find out who made those damn songs.

Fair enough, he may not have been sober - however, he was not, on this occasion, the drunk ass boob who couldn't speak let alone sing

and.....for some reason I got invited to a Celine Dion show in the 90's, Park West, I think....and yeah, I went.   Can't deny that she's a good singer. Not my cup 'o tea though.

Whew.....just noticed that Mr. Belvidere saw her as well.....if we each cut up half of our Mancards, we'll cling on to half a one.....and Scott Weiland can serenade us with one of his STP songs.

By the way, as KS just said...Vince Neil is awful live...a bit pitchy, dog. Some of those songs by Crue should not be sung live.

I took my girlfriend to Guy Savoy at Caesar's Palace and Celine's husband, Rene Angelil was at the next table with a group of Quebeckers. My girlfriend, little French gal that she is, started talking to these people en Francais. Anyway, Celine's husband has a great gig. He sends the old lady out to sing in the theater while he eats thousand dollar dinners with his friends.

Best : Jim Ellison of Material Issue. Saw them live at Knox College in Galesburg around 1990. Had a couple drinks with him at a local bar not far from campus. Great dude. Just a regular guy.
Worst: Marc Storace of Krokus. Could not hold a tune if it had a handle on it.

Big difference between best "singer" and best "front man".

I was a big MI fan - Ellison was a terrible singer.

Off the top of my head:

Paul McCartney, Steven Tyler, Axl Rose, Eddie Vedder, Ozzy Osbourne, Chris Cornell, Scott Weiland, Sammy Hagar

I really sort of need The Stones to roll by soon. Probably the band I want to see most because of their questionable future going forward. Also would see AC/DC if the came by even though I don't really care for the.
