...might as well sell off all veteran talent as this team isn't going to compete for the division for quite some time. I would ask Paulie if he wants to be moved out of respect for the years he has given the team.

Floyd

This is really JR biggest nightmare, a team in his division willing to maintain a big payroll.

Exactly. The Eagles were supposed to be the NFL's dream team. 10-6 would have won that division.

I'm not saying the Sox are good, but you never know. They have a lot of question marks but they also have enough pitching to contend, provided Rios and Dunn don't pay like assholes for 145 games again.

I'm not a Cubs fan, I won't hold on to any hope. We'll know by Memorial Day if this team is anything better than a 75-80win club.

I'll never rule anything out because sure its possible a team can go on a big run but I won't hold out hope for that.

The real pisser is that the Marlins will probably play well, the Sox will suck and Cowley will find the nexus to be Ozzie Guillen.

NL East > AL Central even with Prince Fielder

Rogers talking about Red Sox interest in Floyd, Ramirez or Beckham.
The HIRING of INEXPERIENCED Robin Ventura as Manager should be some kind of HINT that WIN NOW/ALL IN is over.
When our very own Keyser Soze isn't here posting upbeat Fanboy idiocy, the club may be in transition!!!!!!
Hopefully Williams kicks himself upstairs after the season and Reinsdouche hires PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL MEN and butts the hell out.

Strange as it might seem having both Cabrera and now Fielder, Tigers still don't have the DH position on lock-down.
Paulie could be suitable for a full-time DH role in that lineup.

Fielder and Cabrera--probably in part due to MVP aspirations--both want to play the field as much as possible.
Cabrera's already been told and confirmed he's moving back to 3B to make room for Fielder at 1B.

Paulie has a pretty good contract for a team looking to contend over the next 2 season. I think Verlander has 2 or 3 left on his deal, Cabrera maybe 3 or 4?

Problem arises if they get V-Mart back next season and he's done catching.

Not sure what Detroit has the White Sox might want, and I doubt Detroit gives up much, but in terms of moving Paulie's payroll and getting Dunn back in the field full-time....

I think they figure they will deal with that next year. He will be coming back from an ACL tear. I don't see him catching full time, especially if Avila puts up back to back good seasons.

Reinsdorf runs a goofy organization, but trading Konerko...the ONLY PLAYER worth seeing to the Detroit Tigers for anything is a stretch.

New White Sox manager Robin Ventura was a guest on the Mac show yesterday and he said that Matt Thornton will get the first crack at closing with Sergio Santos dealt to Toronto. Based on what Joe Cowley wrote in the Sun-Times today, Thornton might not close a game for the 2012 Sox, considering that the Southsiders might be more interested in shedding salary than having someone who blew 4 saves before Ozzie gave him the hook in favor of Santos when the Sox made their annual visit to the Bronx vs. the Yankees.

Keep an eye on this Addison Reed kid in Spring Training.. I have a feeling he'll be closing before long.

Just like Carlos Quentin was gonna get traded for sure in the middle of last season?

The real pisser is Kenny Williams will get another draft.....let me guess......1st pick....Honey Badger of L.S.U.
We know how he loves those football players.
Then he will draft pitcher after pitcher who are so damned promising he will trade for young pitchers.

Maybe he should have stayed out of Cork and Kerry and watched video of Peavy pitching healthy in San Diego to notice how his whole delivery had changed once brilliant Kenny traded for him while on the Disabled List. That may have prevented Peavy's arm from falling off.
Other than the soap opera infighting Cooper was a part of that Reinsdorf relishes, I think Cooper is fine as a pitching coach.
I don't blame coaches for the failures of players....that is PURE CHICAGO.

It was time for both Ozzie and Kenny to depart after the 2010 public skirmish they conducted all season.

Ozzie forced Reinsdorf's hand last September.

Ozzie sure as Hell is in a better place.

Meanwhile we have Rah Rah Kenny Williams who is stuck between REBUILD and GO FOR IT.
Williams has spent $600,000,000 on player payroll from 2006.
The Sox have one whole Playoff win to show for it.

Unlike some who wanted to PRETEND THEY CONTEND while they are under .500 in 2011, I was focused on a catcher who can't throw out a base stealer, a terrible outfield defensively, a team of absolute hackers at the plate who specialized in leaving runners stranded and OAF Dunn, Rios and Beckham combining for 10 strikeouts per game.

Has Williams forgotten the concept of SPEED while he worries about WIND CURRENTS at The Cell and loads a lineup full of Home Run or Nothing Kelly Park Bobcats?

Williams puts the roster together....they don't have SIGN UP DAY at Horner Park.

Even on a 75 win team, the closer will get 30 saves if he's any good.

I don't know if the new White Sox closer will even have 30 saves, or if the Sox will have 75 wins for that matter.
