Well, that's what you get when you have on none other than the Mid-Wests basketball expert. His gift will help overcome Mac's inability and unwillingness to talk anything not about 70's rock, 80 comedies and hockey.

Just caught the last 10 minutes. They were going over an article written just after the Score was launched. Shows, reviews...It was pretty funny. I know they did a little on the Anniversary date but it would be fun to hear best moments or more stories like that.

No other pro at the station to show/teach/indulge him.

Never really thought of it before but I guess they are similiar in some ways. I also just kind of assume Bernstein knows everything or teaches himself- I can't see him learning anything from anybody. It was weird to hear it.

I don't know much about the radio history. It's fun to hear. I didn't know he worked in Rockford was it? Or about the play by play stuff for Duke or DePaul.

What did he do for Duke? I know he didn't do play by play. They have senior guys on the air for that. Even their sideline reporter has been with them for 20 years...some guy who used to be on soap operas.

So he was doing play by play for the campus only access channel.

Even good dolphin appeared on a radio station like that. Almost anyone could.

Was he really a communications major? That explains a lot of his issues. I'm suprised his parents allowed it.

Rockford Lightning. Fred "Bullseye" Cofield was my favorite player. Him and Pete Myers.

Hated those pesky Albany Patroons.

I forget you are radio nerdy. What show did you do? A B&B type show where you make fun of your listeners? Is that something you'd have liked to pursue?

What are his issues? I'd look at him and think Bernstein would succeed no matter what the chosen field.

Spanky what kind of car did you drive in high school? :P Were you in Rockford when he was?

I didn't have a show. I showed up a couple of times when my friends had one. There were no listeners.

I would be kicking myself if I ever went into that field. There are lots of people, even at the Score, who I consider to be talented who are near my age and completely unestablished. Jason/Holmes are pretty impressed with their accomplishments for their age. There are many people in much more difficult fields doing in charge of managing substantive work. It is pretty cool to be able to hang out and bs all day.

Thats why I don't quite understand the criticism Bernstein gets for not being " bigger" or going national. He's on a successful radio show in his hometown working 5 hours a day and making ( conservatively) 250k a year. In the sports talk radio biz I would say thats doing pretty well.

Like Bernstein, I could see you being a success no matter what you chose to do.

I think Goff is frustrated, but keeps his mouth shut about it so he can still have a chance. I can't figure out Holmes anymore. He is all over the place but would say he is relatively happy. I think he knows it could go away quickly.

He is doing great. I don't think guys like Colin Cowherd get paid as well as Dan.

I'm sure his plan is to stick with the Score until his kids get through high school and then stretch his wings a bit. He'll be about 50 at the time and still have plenty of career to go.

If I went into radio, I would have gotten an MBA and bounced to the executive side by now. It doesn't take too much insight to recognize the Ponzi scheme they have going with on air talent/production

His friends are bigger is my guess. He hosts a radio show talking to the...B&B's callers.

just because he is from deerfield doesn't mean all his friends are successes. I know plenty of people who started off with something and busted out due to stupidity, vices or changing market conditions. There are plenty of sad stories in real estate alone and I'm sure it hit people dan's age

The other thing about radio is that it seems to populate the dregs of society. I thought these guys were all cool as a kid. When you see there pictures, it looks like the mug shots from a vice raid.

Why wouldn't Cowherd get significantly more? He has a national radio show with many more listeners and he also does tv for them? ESPN can afford to give half a million without blinking to someone like that.

but they don't because they are a monopoly

I remember hearing Mike and Mike make good money, but nowhere near the kind of money you would expect for guys who provide the amount of programming they do for both tv and radio.

The truth is, ESPN knows you are listening to ESPN, not Colin Cowherd.

According to the fine and reputable folks over at celebritynetworth.com, Cowherd is worth 12 million and make 2 million a year. Yikes.

He strikes me as being pretty shallow. As if he'd only be friends with people like him or almost as smart. If someone told him they lost their shirt in a business he make fun of them or say too bad and move on with his life. I don't see a lot of empathy or closeness to others with him. Even the charity he has been talking about, he says the right things. I think it's great that he does it, but it lacks a personal touch...I don't know how else to explain it It could be his personality, he always tense or intense to me. He operates on a different level.

are you shitting me?

I could have sworn I heard Mike and Mike make about one million each.

That's insane and maybe Bernstine should move on.

Why would they skimp though? They are a billion dollar operation.

Cowherd is a national radio host and he has a tv show they are really high on at ESPN, mostly for his co-host.

He's probably underpaid for what he generates but we are talking about a company with at least 100 times as much revenue as the Score.
