Title says it all

Hot on the heels of his video release, Adam Lambert is making more news. He tells London's Daily Star that he's set to join legendary rock group Queen as the band's frontman on an upcoming summer tour.

"The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f***ing great songs," says Lambert of the band's late singer, Freddie Mercury. "It's to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of."

Lambert teamed up with the band for a performance at the MTV European Music Awards in November 2011 and, he says, they were impressed enough with him to ask him to join them on the tour.

Lady Gaga was also mentioned as a possible frontwoman, according to NME.com.

A fucking travesty is what it is.

A fucking mutilation of a great rock band is what it is.

Fuck you, Brian May!

They were talking about this possibly happening before his season of Idol ended. I think he worked w/ the Louis XIV-looking Brian May, who was impressed w/ him. Something about Adam must have reminded him of Freddie...

Honestly, I think he'll be better than the last guy they got to fill in as frontman. It doesn't matter anyway, because the Stan Laurel-looking John Deacon is retired.

Journey and Yes are being fronted by dudes they saw on You Tube. While obviously there can never be a replacement for Farrokh Bulsara, isn't this Lambert dude kinda known for being a showman type singer? I would think he'll be closer to seeing an old Queen show than say, Paul Rodgers was. Until Tributo does a Queen show of course.

You haven't seen a show until you have seen a 4OO lb Freddie Mercury sitting behind a keyboard in full gay biker gear.

Neither one of those bands come close to the greatness that Queen was.I think this is going to bomb really spectacular.

HUH??? Queen? Calm down there tiger. Killer Queen, Fat Bottom Girls and Bohemian Rhapsody are three of the worst rock songs ever. What did they actually do that makes them a great band?? Freddy was talented but I'd argue that David Bowie has more hits than Queen.

IMO Queen is the most overrated rock band in history. I liked Freddie and Brian May is a very good guitarist, but their songs sucked for the most part. But they are a band where you need to get past their 'greatest hits' crap and go to the albums to hear any decent songs, which there are a few but not enough to make them good.

Lambert is "over the top" in his "showmanship" BUT I think he has a great voice.

I'd be more than a little surprised if Mr. B & Vincent aren't a MATCH.

I figured there was maybe ONE guy out there who felt this way about Queen, but TWO?

To the gallows with ye!

Pump those brakes, Sherlock Holmes!

I am but one man and one man I shall remain.

SomeGuy+SomeGuy= Match.

By the way, got my tickets for the Feb 24th VH show at the U.C.

Probably gonna get loaded, ask around for some cocaine and try to get backstage. Arrests will be forthcoming.
