There should be a ton of heat on Miz backstage. That was a simple move and he was standing right there. No clue what the dude was thinking.

Agreed.

Not a good start to 2012 for Miz.

As part of the ups-and-downs that comes with the territory, The Miz is reportedly taking heat for R-Truth's near-injury on Raw. According to PWInsider.com, Miz was scripted to absorb Truth's fall on a flip dive, but was out-of-position, leading to Truth smacking the floor. Miz, who has been booked to lose every match he's been involved in in 2012, is also being scapegoated for a lower-than-expected Survivor Series PPV buyrate. The mistimed spot compounds an already tough beginning to 2012 for Miz.

Yeah things are not looking good for him right now. If he starts getting the reputation of not being safe in the ring he will be the next Mr. Kennedy quick. It would be a real shame too since he is good on the mic and has shown some good things in the ring as well.

That's why it was so surprising (at least to me) because Miz doesn't have a reputation for blowing spots.

I actually think it's a great idea to limit his exposure. It was a bad idea to put him on every show, as there isn't a ton of depth to the gimmick. He should be on once per week, slowly building him to a program with a top guy.

I think my favorite part is that they chose to cut to this section of the crowd. Did everyone else get up to grab a Cena T, pretzel, and a piss?

WWE announced Tuesday morning that John Laurinaitis will remain as interim Raw GM, conpleting his "job evaluation" angle from Monday's Raw episode. It allows Triple H's character to shift focus to The Undertaker ahead of their not-yet-official WrestleMania 28 match-up.

Raw TV ratings are in for Monday's show - was it a soft or hard landing for Raw post-Rumble season?

Feb 7, 2012 - 5:15:11 PM

By James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor

WWE Raw on Monday, February 6 came back to earth with a 3.25 rating, down nine percent from a 3.55 rating last week the night after the Royal Rumble PPV. Outside of last week's Raw, it was still the highest-rated Raw since the November 14 episode (12 weeks).

-- Raw averaged 4.62 million viewers, down 12 percent compared to last week's Raw, which was up 13 percent from the Rumble lead-in.

Raw's first hour opened with a respectable average of 4.80 million viewers - the most since Nov. 14 besides last week's show - but Raw tumbled to an average of 4.44 million viewers in the second hour. The second hour was down 14 percent and nearly 700,000 viewers compared to last week's second hour.

Each Raw in 2012 and 15 out of the last 16 Raws have declined from the first to second hour. This week's drop-off, at 7.5 percent, was the largest since the October 10 episode (17 weeks).

-- On cable TV Monday night, Raw ranked #2 behind "Pawn Stars" in overall viewers, #2 in males 18-49, and #1 in adults & males 18-34 and males 12-34. Raw was #1 among male teens in the first hour.

The volatile teen male 12-17 demographic showed the only ratings increase from last week to this week, as all others were even or down by two-tenths of a ratings point. Raw scored its highest m12-17 rating since the October 10 episode (17 weeks), but the demo was still 28 percent below last year's same week.

Caldwell's Analysis: There was certainly interest at the beginning of Raw for follow-up to last week's hot show, but Raw lost nearly 400,000 viewers in the second hour. Whether it was Triple H's show-opening promo (since WWE is in the business of blaming people, like Miz, who was unfairly scapegoated for the Survivor Series buyrate), not much happening in the first hour, TV competition, or a main event that threw too many people into one match without singling out one or two stars, the formula did not work last night.

TUCKER'S INSTANT REACTION - Raw 2/6: "What did Jericho's return lead to? Pretty much nothing"

Feb 6, 2012 - 10:30:44 PM

Instant Reaction - WWE Raw 2/6
By Benjamin Tucker, PWTorch TV specialist

Overall Score - 5.5

A couple of weeks ago, Chris Jericho made his return and did so by not saying a word. Instead, he pandered to the crowd incessantly before randomly leaving. This was praised by many people as being so genius. Myself, an original opposer to the segment, started to get more interested in it every week. And, what did it lead to? Pretty much nothing. Jericho's back and the same he was before, the only difference this time being a slightly different motif and a sparkly jacket. In other words, this "genius" storytelling lead to nothing. Disappointment ensues. Don't get me wrong - I love Jericho's old character. At the same time, the whole thing feels like a waste of time. Was anything gained from Jericho not talking? Not really. The other options for his character to explore would've been much more interesting. And, also, Jericho's right - a lot of the heels on the roster have taken and modified his schtick. So, why is he going to do the exact same thing? Won't he just get lost in the shuffle eventually, like Miz currently has? The segment as a whole wasn't bad. Punk's non-response was fine, Jericho's overall promo was coherent and good, etc. But, like the show in general, it was disappointing.

I don't get this complaint really. Name one option for his character that should have instead been explored. Whiny egotistical heel Jericho is his best character anyway, and this will lead to a feud that might actually make face Punk tolerable on the mic and get him further over with the casuals. Obviously it would have been preferable for him to win the Rumble after those weeks of buildup (instead of changing the ending because of people on the internet  ), but being so dismissive at this point feels hasty.

A few months back some of you were begging for Jericho and Punk, now they got it lined up but you don't like how they went about it. Crazy.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I've wanted Punk v Jericho all along. I'm not going to speak for the Internet wrestling website blogger, but here are my thoughts. You're now five weeks into Jericho's return. The vignettes, as MOST of us resigned ourselves to early, are pointless. Even if they make sense in three weeks because a seven year old was hired for continuity, there clearly was not a plan. Very un-Jericho return like. Other than creating the championship match. I feel no extra excitement leading into that match, which makes the last five weeks useless.

You did eliminate Jericho's babyface pop, which was necessary. The silent treatment was an original way to do it. But in a matter of five weeks, I feel like Jericho has as much heat as Dolph Ziggler. A hot returning superstar is now Ziggler over. Not bad, but not where it should be. The match will be good because of the participants. But the office is doing everything they can to make it average. Maybe someone doesn't want his rematch overshadowed. That's right I said it.

If we're going to go by the outline created for us by creative, the things everyone has already stated. Have something earth shattering, or whatever Jericho said, actually happen at Rumble. Have the vignettes tie in somehow. Anything. One reason it made sense other than a notebook that said Chris.

If you really want to get crazy, Jericho should have won the title at Rumble. Not with Stephanie's help, because you would have to kill the cheers for her return. With Lauranitis. Have Punk chase the title until Mania. I know having the good guy chase the bad guy, only to ultimately overcome evil for the big payoff sounds crazy. However, I think these guys could pull it off.

What if Jericho wins the title in the Elmination Chamber, then have the Punk face the Champ Jericho at Mania.

And yet then people would be bitching about the title changing hands so much and several of you were recently saying you wanted Punk to have an extended run with the title. It just seems like no matter what these guys do some of you are not going to be happy

That's fair. I would have no issue with it at all, if I thought there's a reason for it. Honestly, I think they should have pulled the title off Punk the night they had Ryder and Danielson in the ring. While Punk is celebrating his changing of the guard, the evil GM finds a way to get the belt off him. He starts attempting to destroy the show, being CM Punk like, in his hunt to get the title back. But I know message boards like this from Arizona to Maine would be ablaze with poorly spelled outrage.

That's like saying the whole "Obama change thing" has been explained except for things changing. I seriously thought you were doing a bit when you continued to defend this stuff. Mark my words, even if it's an ultimate success, you will read about this getting flubbed at the beginning in Jericho's next book.
