Do you see that as people seeking their own comfort level or basing decisions off their experiences? There seems to be stereotyping, instinct, humor and racism in this thread. The instinctual is natural and don't know if you can classify it as having prejudices.

I think CEOs and upper management people referring to black people as "colored" in 2012 indicates a level of prejudice.

There is no doubt that one of the very basic instincts in every animal population is to love the familiar and fear the different. All of this we call prejudice or racism is nothing more than an evolved permutation. The paradox is that inclusion of some different is ultimately necessary for survival of any population.

While I don't disagree with that premise some might depend on their age and cultural background. Sure some might do it out of prejudice but some simply don't know it's not really appropriate. I think we we've talked here before about older people's views. People seek others that are like them because there is comfort in that. When somebody selects friends it's usually because they are similiar in values, economic status, not necessarily ethnic backgrounds.

When I used to walk around downtown late at night after work I would feel differently seeing another woman pass by than I would seeing a man. I don't think I'm sexist. An instinct to keep myself safe from a possible threat would kick in.

common sense dictates a woman being more cautious of a strange man than a woman..not sure what you mean about the 400 pounder..if i saw a 400 lb fatty trip in front of me and struggle to stand upright..i would give her a hand same as any other person who needed help.
