RIP. But, have to say, I hated him as a player.

Rest in Peace, Gary Carter. "The Kid" was a wonderful ballplayer.

So did his teammates. They nicknamed him "The Kodak Kid" cause he was always looking for a camera.

My lasting memory of Gary Carter goes back to opening day of 1985.

I am young Cub fan still living off the euphoria of 1984, watching the Mets on WWOR play the Cards. Carter hits a home run in extra innings to win the game.

I thought the Cubs and Mets would battle all season for the division...well the Mets did

I used to call him Gary Farter because I was eight and he used to maul the Cubs. RIP. Great player.

His final AB video is a thing. Enjoy.

Gary Carter's last at-bat was a special moment in Montreal: http://deadspin.com/5885857/

Yeah, I was sorry to hear this news. Didn't realize he was so sick. I'll never forget that 86' series,
probably the first one I really followed as a 10 yr old kid. That Mets team had a bunch of characters
on it.

He played in the wrong era. If he had played in the Juiced Ball 90's, he would have hit like Mike Piazza. One of my favorite Expos. Still a solid player and exactly what the Mets needed that year.
