All right! Cool, man. Well, let's do it!

By the way did you know that writer Joe Hill is Stephen King's kid?

THE CREAM OF THE CROP

The Shawshank Redemption
Carrie
The Dead Zone
Stand By Me
Creepshow
Misery
The Running Man

THE GOOD

The Green Mile
Dolores Claiborne
Silver Bullet
Hearts in Atlantis
Pet Sematary
The Shining
Salem's Lot

THE OK

Cujo
Christine
Cat's Eye
Needful Things
It
The Mist (i'll give it a pass, although i really hated 60% of this movie)
The Dark Half

THE BAD

The Stand (needed a much better budget, and no Rob Lowe)
Apt Pupil
Dreamcatcher
The Mangler
The Tommyknockers
Sometimes They Come Back
Thinner
Firestarter

THE MOST CRIMINAL OF ALL GARBAGES

The Langoliers
Graveyard Shift
Any sanitized remake of an earlier adaptation
The end of "It" (haha)
Children of the Corn (don't even try to defend this fucking mess. ok, it's fun bad now...i guess.)
The Lawnmower Man

i'm not including anything he did original (like "maximum overdrive" or "sleepwalkers" and i'm only including some of the short story adaptations that i've seen...there are more i haven't.)

I'd move Salem's Lot to the OK list. Barlow was disappointing.

And I'd put Secret Window in the OK list as well.

i think the good and the ok can be argued; the cream of the crop and the bad can't, and the most criminal of all garbages certainly should not be debated.

i liked the original "salem's lot". for '79 it was pretty good, especially since it was MFTV.

Yeah but once I saw Barlow I didn't enjoy it as much.

I didn't know Children of the Corn was King. I love that movie! "He wants you too, Malachi!"

Here's a little known fact. The guy that played Isaac is from the south suburbs. I think Blue Island maybe. He's one of a bunch of brothers. Some of them have a condition that keeps them short and looking like kids and others are normal. The family name is Salapatek. I'm sure that's not the name he goes by as an actor. I guess I could look it up on IMDB. Anway, the Salapatek family owned an electronic and television repair business. One of my good friends from Chicago Heights used to work for them. And no, the store isn't The Little Guys.

"the shining" is a terrible adaptation of kings novel. the movie is what it is, but isnt a faithful adaptation of the book.

another vote for "secret window" - that would be one of the better ones for sure.

I think the Shining is a good movie but as a representation of the book it sucked.

I think most of King's books are hard to transfer to a visual medium because of the way he works his writing to worm into your head and scare the crap out of you. Take the Stand for instance, there really is noting that scarey except for a few passages but you get such a sense of dread and doom you are getting worked up as the book goes along. The Harold stuff especially.

"the shining" doesn't belong in the bad...maybe it could go in "the ok". but it's still a very haunting film. slippery slope...it's a good movie, it's a bad adaptation. that's rare. but that's kubrick for you.

i never saw "secret window".

Johnny Depp, Maria Bello, and John Turturo star.

It's like a distant cousin of "The Dark Half".
