I'm pretty sure that this season is going to be one that you tell your kids about. The season where the Cubs came out of nowhere, won the division and made it to the NLCS before falling to the Phillies. I just want one thread that everyone can post all their favorite memories as this team of misfits goes on a 'Major League' type run and gives Cub fans a summer to remember.

Now that pitchers and catchers have reported I thought the time was right. I held out my meatballishness as long as possible but that damn Phil McCracken ruined everything. I just cant wait to watch this thread bumped all season.

Where were you when LaHair hit his 40th home run?
Did you go to the game after Garza signed his extension and he struck out 18?
How many times did you watch the youtube clip of Castro making the unassisted triple play?

8) 8) 8)

Pitchers and catchers reporting should have started your hopelessness. That rotation is going to be bad.

Maybe... tough call though between him and Castro. What with Castro hitting over .400 this season.

Personally my dark horse canidate for MVP is Ian Stewart. Conservatively I think you can pencil him in for .315 BA 30 HRs 90 RBI's and a .360 OBP

Yeah, that's true. This team is going to be fun to watch.

I actually have a funny feeling ian stewart could turn out to be a decent pickup. he has really struggled in recent years in the majors, but i just have a feeling he could be a happy surprise. hes a pretty good glove at 3rd. his strikeout numbers are awful as is his OBP, so this is nothing more than a hunch that a change of scenery might help this guy out.

Steve Clevenger upsetting Tony Campana in the bunt contest. The first of many upsets for this team this season.

So who is the regular who reported to camp 15 pounds lighter with noticeable muscle gain?

Heard it today, it's Soto AND Byrd. Soto I guess lost the same 20 pounds as he did last year, but this time it's good weight and he didn't lose strength! Cubbies!

It doesn't mean much coming from me, but I could see the Cubs contending for second place, if for no other reason than the division being loaded with pushovers...

All stupid meatballishness aside, I have a real one.

This Saturday I get to take Hank Jr to his first baseball game. He will probably throw a fit and we will have to leave by the 4th inning because he vomited cotton candy and ice cream on the pink hats in front of us, but I am very excited. Since he is only 2 this is much more a memory for me than for him. 25 years from now he can argue with JORR's kid that his memory is real and not the media making him feel that way
